Okay, let’s be reasonable...
We’ve screamed for a use for our materials. Now we have one. And still we scream.
The gun itself is not difficult to get even if you don’t play that much.
The catalyst is not critical to the value of the gun. I have the catalyst on my alt account and not on my main, and I can tell you it’s good either way.
Understand, I am not a completionist. Some things are beyond my reach and I’m fine with that. Sometimes it’s because I’m not skilled enough, sometimes because I just don’t want to do what’s necessary, but either way this game isn’t about my personal tastes or abilities. It has to appeal to a broad spectrum of players. If you have the compeltionist mentality and don’t have the skills to back it up, you’re going to be disappointed. If you aren’t going to commit the time and effort to get items that require time and effort, you’re going to be disappointed.
Not trying to be mean, but you have to be a bit more realistic.

Keep in mind that only about 2% of players have even earned a triumph title. The people who have thousands of mats is not as plentiful as you might think. There is a very wide gap between the top 1% who play this game every day and the 99% who only play a couple times a week.

And there it is. I have been a 1% player over the course of the lifespan of the franchise. I may or may not be at the moment (didn’t play season of the drifter) but I also play on an alt account. That’s full disclosure for what is to come. D2 vanilla was aimed at the casual player who only invested a few hours a week. The rewards could be gained with very little commitment, and once gotten, that was it. Play was absolutely level across the spectrum of players, it was absolutely fair, and the expectation was the joy of playing itself would sustain the game. Wrong. Wrongwrongwrong. Turns out once rewards were earned, people largely left. Progression players had no reason to stick around between DLC’s, so they didn’t. Rewards for difficult content such as raids were mostly cosmetic. I could get armor from spamming public events that was just as good as Prestige raid armor - so why do the raid? Same for weapons. This nearly killed the game. The system now requires one thing; time. You have to commit time to getting what you want. Yes, you could have had the Bad Juju and catalyst day one if you committed the time beforehand. Or you can still get it over time. It isn’t locked out, some people are on a different path for it. Example: just yesterday I finished the Lumina quest. I could have done it the first week, but I have a strong aversion to Gambit. I can only take so much and I want to puke. Example 2: I decided to use Mayhem to work on my Last Word quest. Yup, that’s right, I still don’t have it. I hate PvP too. Temptation is around 50%. I’ll get it when I get it. Example 3: Thorn quest sits at 13%. I could go on, but here’s what I’m saying... I will have all those things in time if I want them. I can solo all of it, I don’t need anyone for it, but I have to put in the time first. If streamers make a living putting up videos showcasing new weapons, I can’t blame them for rushing the content to be first up. I also pity them such pressure is on them. This is a job, not a pastime for them. They are also outliers. The bulk of people will spread these activities out over the course of a season, which is exactly what should happen. Some people won’t get them at all, but that’s how it goes. We aren’t all going to get everything. Things I will never have: Mountaintop Recluse Anything requiring Comp play Maybe I’m good enough to get them, maybe I’m not, but one thing for sure is I don’t care to put in the time. I forfeit the privilege of owning them.
