Besides cheating on his wife multiple times with porn stars (because he's such a good Christian).
This is what always gets me. I don’t understand why he’s so popular with evangelicals. He’s like, the least Christian president we’ve ever had.

Don't quote me on this, but I think they were behind Cruz originally, but when Trump got the nomination, they them backed him. One thing the Republicans usually do very well, is back each other up. Not always, but enough that it is considered a party trait, is that the right term? -blam!- it, I am too exhausted to think straight. If this made sense, Yay! If not, I am sorry, lol.

Hell no! I am going to weld your lid shut!

... Xombie is a ninja confirmed? He now has the power to silence?...
not included in the DLC
Not a Ninja, but I do have a large hammer and some huge nails......

... You should probably get those cut...
not included in the DLC
Wrong type of nails. I am going back to sleep.

I'm guessing they looked past how awful he is, so they could grab power. I think it has worked to some degree.

Edited by Uncanny_Vale: 7/14/2019 12:35:03 PMIt’s a pretty weird alliance. An egotistical, womanising, casino owning, lying, petty, billionaire, reality TV Star being backed by supposedly “morally superior” evangelical Christians.
-
Edited by RollTide2235: 7/14/2019 2:12:06 PMThey probably support him more so because he’s a conservative and not because they feel he is a model “Christian”. Every Christian talk show and radio host I’ve heard talk about Trump has stated that there was a lot in his private life they didn’t agree with but they would choose his side because of his conservative beliefs. I think some of you guys on here blindly hate Christianity so much that you will spin anything you can in order to paint it negatively.

I’m aware that it’s a political alliance rather than a moral or religious one. I was just saying I found it odd they chose Trump as their preferred candidate rather than someone like Ted Cruz. How many evangelical politicians careers have ended with sex scandals and divorces etc? With trump though it’s like water off a ducks back. It’s just surprising how easily they shed their moral standards when it comes to Trump. I’m doubtful Trump even believes half the things he says anyway. In the past he’s been both pro-choice and pro-LGBT rights.

Sometimes deciding between the lesser of 2 evils is a difficult choice esp. when it comes to voting for presidency. I guarantee you that if Cruz was our president, the exact (or very similar) posts like your previous one, would be made about “how can morally upright Christians vote for someone like Cruz”. It’s a no win situation. And that’s not a dig or a pity party or an oppression conspiracy. That’s a simple, when people dislike something so much they will always find things wrong with it, observation.

Edited by Uncanny_Vale: 7/14/2019 10:09:48 PMMy original point was to say that he seems like the least likely person for the evangelicals to throw their support behind - simply because of how un-Christian he is. I understand the political reality of having to back someone who will push your agenda even if you don’t really like them. I just find it odd they would pick Trump rather than someone like Ted Cruz. As for Cruz I undoubtedly would be critisizing him if he were President. But it wouldn’t be for hypocrisy - he’s been consistently evangelical Christian for his whole life. Unlike Trump, evangelicals wouldn’t be at all hypocritical for backing him.
-
Ok. I know I’m not speaking for all Christians, but the ones I’m close to in my circle of friends pretty much all stated that they voted for Trump because they felt he was more of a “business man” and felt that was what our country needed at the time. Just an observation on my end.

It's almost like people can change their beliefs
-
How convenient he had a change of heart right about the time he decides to run for President. Wonder what changed his mind? https://qz.com/1623437/trump-shifted-from-pro-choice-to-pro-life-as-he-planned-a-presidential-run/amp/ All it is is Trump using evangelicals to get elected and evangelicals using Trump to get their legislation. It’s a marriage of convenience that has nothing to do with morals.

Just like Biden changing his stance on the Hyde amendment

It's not whataboutism when I don't promote what he did, yes it is strange but lots of candidates do it
