If they were minimally intelligent they would've made the reward be a new, original, awesome exotic weapon , not a recycled AND NERFED weapon from Destiny 1 vanilla, almost 5 years old.
Making their players grind TWICE for the same (but weaker) exotic weapon is the pinnacle of minimum effort.

I think one of the reasons Bungie brings weapons from D1 to D2, is because the playerbase asks for them. And they do throw in a new exotic weapon once in a while...

I understand that but if you remember we wanted to bring our exotics from D1 to D2 and Bungie said we couldn't because, for the sake of story coherence, the Cabal had destroyed the tower and all our vaults content. I guess that the story coherence means nothing since they found they could make us grind (AGAIN) for old D1 content promoted as a great-brand-new-exotic-quest. As I've said, minimum effort and deceitful attitude.

The core components or "real" versions of the exotics from D1 still exist in the world, it's just that all the gear we had collected, all the copies of exotics that we'd found or quested for, had been destroyed by the Cabal attack.

How is it weaker? It’s stronger than the d1 version and you can say that about all the quest weapons they’ve brought back. I do hate that you have to pay for something you already bought though.

Thorn is sad compared to its D1 counterpart.

Yeah but they could never bring a weapon like that back. Nothing would compete. Last word could use a console buff to at least get it to where it was at the end of d1. I’m not saying bring the two tap ads back but at least make it to where you can ads without being so penalized. PC has no problem spamming ads.

Well i've heard that when you pick up the thing from a kill it becomes d1 vanilla thorn.

The amount of super energy refill is much less than that of the original weapon.

Yeah but with super mods and dynamo it’s much stronger than d1 plus it handles better and had rampage basically. It’s overall better.

True, but it is more stable and has better handling than the original, which, to me, makes it more useable.

It never got that damage buff like the way it does in d2, and it didnt have the secret necrocasm perk on it

I heard about that necrocasm perk, how do you proc it? Lots of thrall?

From what Ive seen, it happens randomly. I havent tested it out with chromatic fire yet though
