Quest need more thought put into them. Something more meaningful then kill this many enemies with this or that.

Yes, use the feedback from here, Reddit, etc..

No, I like the quest how they are.

36

I don't care either way.

Who came up with the idea having to get 1500 final blows with a Grenade Launcher running strikes? Or quest like Hush, having to get 1000 final blows with a bow in Gambit? IMO quest should have more of a meaningful experience other than the norm. That was only 2 quest and only 1 thing from both of them. I don't know how you guys feel about this but I don't find quest like this fun that I find myself not really wanting to run them. I was looking over a lot of quests/bounties in this game that a hell of a lot of them are the same thing, kill this many with this before moving on to the next step. Bungie, can we get more thought, imagination, incentive, etc... put into these quests other than kill this or kill that with this weapon 1500 times? Edit: I brought this up partly because I was running A Garden would strike. Looking at the quest A gift for the worthy, having to get 1500 grenade kills. Only 2 heavy ammo synths dropped, yes, I only have 1 perk for this on my armor because 2 or more cancels it out. I started thinking, how is the reasonable killing all the enemies and even at the end my team decided to stretch it out because how easy it is to kill the boss. No heavy ammo dropped. Edit: 1. I should have explained what is more meaningful to me. Example, D1 Skywatch, Urzok the Hated. IMO that was fun because of everything else that was going on, the war, having the Hive, Taken and Fallen going all at once that it was a blast. It was a 3 person fire team when it released that people enjoyed helping others because of the challenge it gave.

    • But for weapons like these, aren’t they meant to be kind of like pinnacle weapons? Like they’re supposed to be some of the “best” of their types, so they require some skill/time with the same type to earn them. That’s what I like to tell myself at least.

just wanted to add in here as well. They really messed up on the ammo part of the game. I'm so tired of these quests that force you to get so many kills and yet they only start you off with 2 rounds in the mag and then your teammates can just take the ammo from you because why the shit not right? forget teammates anyways in this game, they can take special ammo from you, they can take heavy ammo for themselves. But this is a team game, you need a team to get certain things done. but also screw teammates. It's baffling and annoying as hell. Also i realize im saying this twice but the fact that it is apart of the game is ridiculous. makes no sense. If this was a screen play, then they pretty much wrote themselves into a corner and are using every mcguffin to get themselves out

      • Of course bungie always tries to do the cheapest thing possible. Recycling weapons, old activity grind. Emphasis on crucible with same old maps. What you are asking is beyond bungie.

The thing that kills me is that this is a looter shooter, right? So you’ve gotten that exotic you finally wanted. You’ve gotten that god roll on a specific weapon that you’ve been trying at for possibly months. You’ve finally gotten that cool looking armor you wanted with the exact perks you wanted. Then you get hit with something like these tributes, where they literally attempt to dictate your entire loadout. Your progress is hindered for every piece of gear that is not of a specific set. There’s even a tribute that requires an entire set be equipped. It has always been like that though. This kind of thing exists in all of the game’s other pursuits. It makes no real sense. It’s a fundamental flaw to design a game around the acquisition of powerful/player preferred gear, and then often dictate what gear the player uses in every facet of the game at some point for the sake of the game’s many pursuits. People want options and they want to be able to use their coveted/preferred gear. In a LOOTER SHOOTER. That’s not an unreasonable expectation or request for a game like this. I don’t know who it is a Bungie that insists on attempting to force fundamentally opposing things together, but that’s the story of this game. From this example to the impractical PvE/PvP blend. Destiny has its fun moments, but I can only imagine what this game COULD be if they would open it up. It’s SO rigid and it suffers for it’s impractical design.

        • I don't really mind the simple objectives, but the amounts are pretty annoying. 1500 GL final blows makes it feel like I have no choice but to run a triple GL combo every time I run a strike. That stops being fun real fast. Playing in one specific way for an extended period of time will stop being fun nonmatter what. The redundant tasks are also frustrating: bow kills and precision bow kills are separate for some reason? Why not just have one objective, get kills with bows, and have precision kills/multikills grant extra progress. Graviton Lance & Sunshot's catalysts are pretty bad for this too.

        • This. There's nothing pinnacle or special about simply doing a stupidly long and arduous grind that's easy, but time consuming. Make the quests actual quests and not passive kill counts.

        • Because it’s busy work they can give you without having to pay someone to be creative or use their creativity on something else. There’s nothing creative about 90% of the quests. I suspect they just have an intern think of tasks you can do in the game and put them together since you don’t have to pay them anything at all.

          • Making meaningful missions will take longer to make, meaning less missions overall. MMOs have this issue too because its required to have X amount of content released so you have to pull back on the quality of quests to make deadlines.

            • Please, don't give Bungo any ideas. For the love of God, I beg you. I completely understand what you're trying to convey, but in Bungo's eyes, meaningful quests and bounties means more tedious, mundane and mediocre hoops to jump through. They'll make quests and bounties twenty times worse than they already are. Fun, engaging content is not in their agenda.

              • The problem lies deeper within the game mechanics, they're just "kill dis, fetch that by killin' dis", because the game lacks other kinds of interaction (and it shouldn't), one example is the chest search after completing a bounty from the cabal infected frames (don't remember the robot's name), thats actually an exploration quest....that became available once you killed lots of dudes, or the closest thing you have to a recipe is the rare items crafted by brother vance by grinding radiolarian culture and paradox amplifiers (this mechanic is quite simplistic), now another aspect of the lack of different mechanics to obtain X or Y object / ingredient / resource is to obtain a weapon or armor to kill more stuff, which is something you've been doing to obtain the X or Y object to begin with. How can you possibly change such a cycle to a broader experience? well you have to add more objectives to change the main objective of the game, objectives that does not repeat nor conflict with what already is available and THAT is the real challenge design Bungie must face each time they release new content

                • i also don't like how your teammates can steal the ammo from a kill you worked to get. And yet bungie likes to make quests that force you to be apart of a fireteam in order to get the weapon from it. I remember doing the thorn quest on D1. I remember getting the chaperone on D1. A good majority of the exotics i did by myself to acquire. Quests like the black spindle was fun because it was something that was already apart of a mission and having to sprint through those doors before they closed was a rollercoaster lol. Does anybody remember grinding omnigul in order to get the grasp of malok? or grind crucible hoping to get a sick eyesluna? Or even the Shield brothers quest in order to get the treads upon stars? Things like that is only a taste of what made D1 great.

How many gambit bow shots to get... a bow? I don't think Bungie get that people want it 'now'/without no-lifing the game... they aren't that interested in 100's of crucible sniper kills. Fun for a few annoying for most.

                  • It's just as bad as when you play battlefront 2 and you have to earn 226,967 score to earn only 1000 credits. They are just arbitrary numbers to keep the people busy. It's lazy. This game shouldn't have been made. They should have just kept adding on to D1.

                  • This is what happens when they have to squeeze every last drop out of the current content. Without being able to create any new assets, every quest is basically reduced to fetch and kill steps, repeating what is already there. I just completed the Oxygen SR3 “quest” and didn’t even know I was doing it. It had been so long since I picked it up and the quest “steps” were so mundane that I had forgotten about it completely. Was it a nice surprise? Sure. Was it satisfying? Hell no. All I did was finish doing “stuff” and got a thing. There was no emotional payoff of having completed exciting or unique missions, or any thrill of accomplishing a great task. It felt like I had just gotten home from the grocery store. That’s not very exciting.

The problem is when the community asks for something to be more "meaningful" Bungie makes it more tedious and/or expensive with resources or time.

They did the Lumina quest dirty. Such a focal point of our Guardians story and it was reduced to a couple of paragraphs and some recycled old content. With the sheer importance of Lumina alone and what it means, it should have had an actual story quest tied to it.
