You can easily get bad juju without buying many of the calus material things.
I had 17 completed when i unlocked the tribute hall.

Since I turned in nearly all my legendary shards I´m unable to buy materials from Spider. Also I must admit, this hit me really hard. I bought a couple of games like GoW. I think I´ll start playing other games and come back when Shadowkeep drops. This exploit was to much to handle for me. Thanks anyway for your tip.

Another tip. If you have year 1 trials/vangards/crucible/mats shaders. Delete them for 1 shard per.

There a good at I farm for mats you can do. Just queue for a forge with low level gear ( Hawthorne sells low light stuff) and go at it for as long as you want. You won't be in the Forges long enough to get kicked, so you can just turn off your controller to save battery, and you don't have to worry about macros
