The other week I saw ESO cretoids crawling out from their recesses, this time it’s Warframe plebeians who are trying to compare Warframe to Destiny. Go back to the hole you came from.

  • What so bad trying to compare Warframe and Destiny? Both are coop sci-fi games with RPG elements. But right now Destiny feels like session shooter with extended loot system and Warframe close to open world MMORPG with space ship content near to Elite and No Man Sky. Bungie keep doing same shooting gallery with different decorations and never try to bring something new to their game.

  • Same genres doesn’t necessarily mean they’re comparable. My main annoyance with this crap is that people are trying to make Destiny into Warframe. They ARE NOT the same.

  • Well, still they both about farm, loot and killing tons of enemies with diffirent weapons to get this loot. Destiny lack of proper craft system (BA colud be a first step in this direction) Destiny lack of clan management or any "clan" thing. Hawthorne is just another talking head to give you bounty and powerful reward. She is even to a vendor. Destiny lack of MMO elements and personalization tools. You have no place for your Guardian, no lore background for countless grind for Strikes, Raids etc (Well, DC and LW did it so right, but Bungie screwd this still) Destiny have a way better shooting mechanic and worse melee weapon mechanic. But I agree you should not compared Warframe and Destiny here And Destiny are best in PvP terms among all other loot games. Warframe try to add PvP and failed. But they at least try. Bungie avoid any experiments with base mechanics and new things. Last time they try was D2 vanilla

  • You know that ESO has clan and player housing too, right? And you know that just about every MMO ever has had it, right? It has nothing to do with either of those games, but rather a feature that's been in the genre since the beginning.

  • It has player housing because that has been in Bethesda’s Elder Scrolls series for a while now. I wouldn’t call it clan housing. It’s the Clan Leaders house. Two different genres.

  • You ignore that almost every single MMO ever has had player housing/guild housing, and many have both. I've played ~15 MMOs in my day and, off the top of my head, I can't think of a single one that didn't have player OR guild housing. People love it. I really enjoy it.

  • Destiny isn’t Massively Multiplayer.

  • It's literally an MMO. You can make arguments about its size, which are relatively valid except that there are tons of folks with 1.5k, 2k, 2.5k hours into the game that still don't have everything, so those arguments are irrelevant. It's also unquestionably multiplayer.

  • Destiny 2 incorporates features from MMO’s. An MMO, key word is massively consists of hundreds to thousands on a server. If you can gather that many people together on Destiny 2 then I’ll happily send you some booze via post. Even if it were a full on MMO, that doesn’t mean we need this sort of space. The developers focus is about letting us kick ass and look cool in the process. The sounds of sitting around in some room with 5 other people just sounds boring. We could be raiding or whatever.

We could be raiding or whatever.
Once again, you don't know the first thing about MMOs. Ff14, ESO, neverwinter, STO, TERA, LOTRO. All of these games also use instances with limited player caps. I want to say Ff14 caps at 40? players per instance, outside of social spaces. I think neverwinter is 30, outside of social spaces. ESO is much higher, somewhere between 50 and 100, but even then it's rare for a particular instance to come close to the cap. If D2 isn't an MMO because it doesn't allow for thousands on a server concurrently, then nor is practically any MMO out there. I'd love to hear your argument about why ESO isn't an MMO because it doesn't "consist of hundreds to thousands on a server." Tell you what, if you can find me a way to get hundreds to thousands together in caer conig, I'll send you booze. Or maybe you want to argue that neverwinter isn't an MMO as well? In reality, you apply this standard judiciously, and this is a standard that only destiny has to meet, and that no other game does. Or, in the best case scenarios for you, you just simply have no idea what you're talking about and chose to speak anyway. This isn't the age of asherons call where literally all the players shared a vast, expansive world together.

  • ESO can handle 10000 players on a server. Notice how I said server not instances. I guess though all that time I played ESO going into Cyrodil in big parties, storming the Imperial city and going underneath and stuff was completely irrelevant and I don’t understand the first thing about a Massively Multiplayer Online Game, which officially Destiny 2 is not branded as.

So you're being particularly disingenuous by mentioning servers and not instances. Since instances is the actual comparison to the model that destiny employs. I did forget about cyrodil because I never got into the PvP, but my comment applies to the instances of every other zone. Also notice that I said ESO is one of the exceptions because it allows for more players than most other MMOs. You cherry pick what you want to reply do. Is neverwinter not an MMO because 40 player instances isn't massive enough for you? Is ff14 not an MMO because it's not massively multiplayer by capping its instances at a Player count that's lower than your arbitrary line in the sand amount of players, per instance, required to validate a game as an MMO???? Or are you judiciously apply this standard to destiny and destiny only?

  • LOL dumbest person on the internet. You gave a "reason" for your claim I categorically disproved your claim You just asserted the claim again but this time without even attempting to validate it. Amazing

  • Actually you can assign the house and design it around your clan's needs. Btw, if Bungie push destiny as a MMORPG, then they have to accept the negative comparisons. Same with their sudden push of f2p will open up comparisons with Warframe (which is genuinely f2p and keeps pumping out free content and updates..... with a smaller team and budget than bungie)
