Tired of the "YOU SUCK" Messages
I am probably going to get flack here that I need to be thicker skinned, but I feel I am posting this for the people who are too afraid or embarrassed to do so. I am an OK PVP player. I am sure I have a KD similar to most of the Destiny community that focuses on PVE more than PVP. I would like to get Luna's Howl, Recluse, or even Mountain Top, but when I get messages that say I suck, it makes me feel like if I am getting "you suck" after Quickplay, whats going to happen if I go into Comp more. So with all that said, her we go.....
I am sick and tired of getting messages from people after a lose in Quickplay, Gambit and Gambit Prime about how bad I was. Really??? What is that going to accomplish? Games over, you lost your streak, I lost mine, its a game, I could go on forever and all it shows is:
1. You're a bully.
2. You can't handle a loss in a video game.
Do you maybe think that I just had a bad match? Maybe the other team was just that much better? Maybe I just got a new set of weapons that I saw were really good for whatever game type we are playing and wanted to try it out. Again I could go on and on.
Instead of tell me I suck why don't you say something like"Hey here are some tips on getting better. I noticed you would stay out in the open too long, get to cover more." Or "Don't rush in so often." not "You're awfull" or " Don't invade if you suck." I had a match the other day where I kept ending up in 1 v 1 against this one guy, we both had hand cannons and I am not a hand cannon guy, 5 or 6 times. He out gunned me each time. After the match I messaged him asking a legit question " How do I get better with HC?" You know what he could have said piss off, but he didn't. He gave me some good advise. Lets have more of those moments after crucible and Gambit matches instead of the "YOU SUCK" ones.
At the end of the day this is just a video game. There are things in life that are way worse than losing a Quickplay match, Gambit, or even Competitive. We are all playing to enjoy the game and all the different game types Destiny has to offer.

I wouldn't worry yourself with it. Contrary to what people are saying, getting hate from some salty stranger in a video game does not mean you suck. In my experience, they're usually just crybabies who need their diaper changed after having the crap beat out of them, or if the person is on your team, they're an egomaniac who can't handle the fact a loss is because of the TEAM. Not an individual player. They could have performed better themself, just as that worse player could have. Truth is, it's just a video game. Anyone who has to tear down someone else's self-esteem over it desperately needs some counseling or something because they are pathetic.

I have legit never had this happen... And my pvp skills are mediocre at best. That being said kick some dirt over that p00p and move on with your day.

Yeah I hate those salty players. What I think you should do is remember their user name then if you see them in a match make sure you kill them( probably with a shotgun, to make them more mad ). To me it is sometimes funny watching bullies rage

Don't play online if you have skin thinner than a sheet of tissue paper. Simple as that. Don't play a multiplayer online game and not expect it. Just like you don't walk into a bar and not expect drunk people. Just mute everyone. Better yet, send sarcastic responses. More times than not, they are shut down. There are times I go in just to screw with people. Doing comp for thorn was a riot.

Yeah ok good luck changing the world with this forum post This isn’t a destiny thing, this is online play since it’s conception. It’s part of the fun. Instead of losing your mind over problems you can’t fix, accept the fact you’re going to take criticism good or bad no matter how well you play

If you’re getting that many messages, then you do suck. You shouldn’t expect strangers to send you tips instead of hate mail when you lost the match for them.

High KD people feel very entitled and there is a sense of superiority from a lot of em in comp...it’s like chill bro it’s just a game lol Btw if you don’t already use a titan with one eyed mask and stick to meta like lord of wolves; you’ll perform just fine. After I’m done with a quest on hunter I’m gonna do the progress to fabled on my titan lol

1 ReplyUnfortunately, the internet breeds a mentality of "no consequences", thus every insecure little muffin out there becomes a vomit bomb looking for someone to explode on. About 90% of internet trash talkers wouldn't be talking that kind of trash if they were in person with their intended mark. But, the situation is not going to change, at least, not for the better. You won't be able to stop being assailed over private messages unless you turn them off to everyone except your friends. You don't have to be of any particular skill level to get hate mail. Beat the right/wrong person, they are going to send hate mail. Just be on a losing team, and you are an excuse for someone else on the team to blame for the loss. I could go on and on. But the only way to truly stop hate mail is to turn off private messages from anyone that is not on your friends list. (Some overachieving trolls can still manage to send a 1-shot hate mail by attaching a nasty-gram to a friend request). I don't like having to do this either because every once in a great while, I will get a "GG" message from an opposing player. That is kind of cool, but if I have my messages set to "Friends Only", then I can't get those cool messages either. But if I leave it open, the trolls can come and go as they please. So, my messages are set to "Friends Only".

Edited by Machine_DNA: 7/10/2019 9:07:19 PMNo one should be getting hate mail and especially in QP. It’s not about having thicker skin in my opinion, you shouldn’t have to put up with that. On your end, maybe you could block messages from players who aren’t your friend. I’m not saying it’s on you to fix this but that’s something you could do. And after that, just try to remember that those guys who do that are probably not even that great themselves. They probably think they are the sh*t and got dominated by someone on the other team and so blamed you to appease their ego. Great PvP players can actually carry teams in QP and get 40+ kills when they are one of the better players in the lobby. Hope you continue to play PvP and i hope you get more enjoyment from it going forward. 👍

YOU SUCK! Just kidding 😉. Yeah, a lot of people like them just have bad manners all around. When they win they boast about it and say you suck, and when they lose they whine about it and call you a cheater or a meta-abuser. The best advise I can give is just to ignore them.
