• I have an i7 9700 with the included heatsink/fan installed and my temps run between 70 and 80C while playing D2. That's at about 50% usage. It's not going to hurt your CPU to be around 80 degrees C, but the upper limit is 90 to 100, so you'll want to keep an eye on it periodically. You'll blue screen or get other indications if you're overheating as well.

    • Would be helpful if you posted which CPU and the cooler you are using. If your computer is a laptop, 81C is very normal. If you own an Intel processor, anything below 100C should not harm your processor, but if it goes over that your computer will protect itself. If you want better advice, consider giving us more information.

I think this issue is related to issue that many of us have and that is freezing / lag spikes in game all the time. I opened my Task Manager and it shows that Destiny 2 is using 40-50% of CPU usage, BUT real usage of CPU at that same time shows around 80-85% which is not normal. For some reason this game is eating a lot of CPU since latest update.

    • My cpu sits around 55c while on D2. 81 is on the higer side but it shouldn’t hurt anything, besides if it’s overheating it will shut off.

I play on PS4 and I don't know how to check the cpu temps (if it is even possible to do so on console), but it doesn't matter if I'm playing on the original, slim or Pro. Destiny is the only game I play that consistently ramps the fan speed up to max for extended periods.

      • A temperature of 81C won't harm your CPU. Under the same ambient conditions, any game or application with high CPU utilization, will reach those temps on your system. Try rendering x.265 video, 3D images, or perform a manual full system scan with Windows 10 Defender. All those instances will max out your CPU cores 100% for extended duration. Don't worry, your CPU will throttle down if it gets too hot to prevent damage. Depending on your system and settings, there are several things your can do to improve temps: Increase CPU fan speed behavior if possible (software or UEFI (BIOS) controlled) Decrease or limit in-game frame rate Limit manual or automatic overclocking if it applies Install a better cooler

        • Each update tanks performace. Others are having this issue too, so it’s clearly not us. All we can do is wait and see what bungie does
and please ignore BNG help, it’s help is useless
