Just played Skyrim for the first time yesterday, and there’s two things Varvatos would like to ask:
Does he simply need to level his character up to get health? Why so low at start?
Why in the world can’t he use Magicka and weapons one after another like in Oblivion? Is there no better shortcut than pausing to select favorites?
That being said, Skyrim is a blast! Goodbye MMOs!

If you think 100 to start off with is low, you've never played a truly ancient rpg. The oldest I've played is Morrowind, but still. You won't get anywhere near 100 hp for at least 10 levels if you don't plan your leveling and beginning stats correctly. Funnily enough, the spell and weapon system is similar to Morrowind, except that in Morrowind you could swap between your equipped weapon and magic at will instead of having to swap between one or both hands at once.

Yup, leveling is the way to bring up HP outside of maybe a potion or armor enchantment. Usually if I want to use magic I just stick it on my offhand and don't bother with shields. Personally I preferred ice since the slowdown effect made it easy to put out enough damage before they got close to me. Also smithing iron daggers like a madman is a practical way to level up smithing to get the all the fun armors. Thought I'd just throw that tip in here for the fun of it.

2 RepliesDo you get to the cloud district very often? Oh, what am I thinking, of course you don’t.

You can choose to increase your health each time you level up. Also, you can find/create enchanted pieces of armor that give you bonus health. There's also potions that make your health bar bigger too but only for a limited time. I'm not sure what you're talking about but you can have a one-handed weapon in one hand and a magic power in the other. You can select which weapons/magic as favorites and get to them quickly using the d-pad.

9 RepliesTwo pieces of advice: One: within the Favorites menu (d pad or whatever you have it bound to on PC) hold the left or right buttons (numbers on PC) and that will hotkey your items/magic Two: invest in enchanting, if you don’t you are screwed late game since you’ll deal basically no damage.

Gray-mane or Battleborn?

Skyrim isn’t good for playing as a mage without mods imo. They’res a ton of good ones but I haven’t played in awhile. Check the Nexus to find some. As for health otherthen potions you can’t raise your health without leveling up, honestly you’d be better off putting it into magika or stamina at the beginning then health since you’ll be swimming in potions soon enough

1. You can craft potions to temporarily increase your health, but past that, Leveling is the only way. Besides, with the amount of healing methods you have, 100 health is fine. 2. Because Skyrim sucks for creating warlocks. I personally agree with this complaint. Why can’t I shout fire and slash them with my sword?

Well if you're using a one handed weapon you can have it in one hand and a spell in the other. That's how I played my battle mage, my illusion assassin/thief, and my sword and board restoration knight

Yes, level up to raise health, or wear enchanted items. The new spell system may not be as great for battlemages, but it’s much better for pure spellcasters.
