I am one of those people, I’m just casual. I like to play other games and I’m not committed to destiny. The infusion cores are unnecessary and a big hurdle for casual players. I love the 690 boost which led to me buying the season pass for $15.74. But I can’t upgrade my old exotics because I lack the resources and the drive to grind for ridiculously unnecessary components to do so. When I last played back in September 2018 this was not the case. Why can’t we go back to those requirements. The change seems unnecessary from a casuals prospective. I already have a full time job, I don’t need my game to require 40 hours a week to advance 5 or 10 light. Just seems pointless when there are plenty of other games out there to play.

  • What no one seems to understand is that casual players don’t care. They can just play another game. Xbox has game pass with tons of titles. I play 60 to 90 minutes a night if I’m lucky. So 60;minutes to get cores is a whole night unnecessarily wasted. My clan has 55 members, maybe 5 still play destiny. That’s a mass exodus and bungie needs to stop the hemorrhaging. Just remove the cores and tons of players would come back. It’s a fun game but it’s not fun collecting resources when that time could be better spent doing weekly challenges. The cores weren’t part of the original game, they were added to increase the grind, which is the opposite of what a casual wants to do. It is what it is.......

  • I get my gunsmith bounties, head to the tangled shore, run Spiders bounties, get my glimmer and ghost fragments, grab his headhunter bounties, delete stuff I pick up along the way, and voila, even starting with zero cores, I just made enough glimmer and cores to infuse an entire outfit once. Good enough for an hour of play.

  • It takes 10 minutes of your time per day to get 9 cores dude. If you can spare 70 minutes a week then you’ll have 63 cores. That’s plenty enough for the casual player.

  • Ten minutes? Doubtful it takes ten minutes to load into the tower and the tangled shore.

  • I know your exaggerating but it’s not my fault that you don’t play with an ssd is it? It takes 20-40 seconds to load the tower and literally 10 seconds to load any planet... thanks for your massive contribution to the conversation

  • 10-20 seconds seriously? I don’t believe it. Thanks for your stellar contribution as well.

To load any planet, yes. Why would I lie about that, it’s pretty pointless don’t you think? I have a samsung evo 970 m.2, as far as I’m aware there is not a better ssd for gaming that you can buy, at least when I bought it. They’re not exactly expensive either they cost the same as an external lol

  • You almost never NEED to infuse gear. It's pretty much irrelevant unless you are doing the new raid. Just use whatever you have that is highest for that one activity and what you like for everything else since light doesn't matter. For Les than 30 mins you can get 9 cores from the gunsmith bounties each day aswell so even now they are easy to get if you really do want to infuse gear. I understand you don't have time to play a lot but masterworking still should feel important as it's the last "upgrade" you can do to your gear.

  • Another player that doesn't understand "power-fantasy". No other RPG out there asks people to do things this ridiculous and this anti-progression, anti-player choice, and anti-build diversity.

  • I think that’s the disconnect we don’t want to have to need to upgrade our gear we want to use the gear we want to use. Again this game has gotten to the point of excitement that’s equal to getting a savings bond for your birthday. Thanks grandma. It’s so exciting lol.

  • 90% of games have a method to improve/get better gear. If you can't take the time to improve your gear I don't know why you even play.

  •
90% of games have a method to improve/get better gear
Yes, and they all involve SIMPLY PLAYING THE GAME. The Gunsmith bounties are a small step in the right direction. But only a small step. However fixing cores-for-infusion will trivialize Masterworking by making it too easy and too common. Which is why they need to be removed from the infusion economy. I've been infusing regularly....and its not a lack of cores (I've got over 60) that is limiting me this Season. ITS RUNNING OUT OF GLIMMER AND PLANETARY MATERIALS THAT'S CAUSING PAIN. Which just shows----once again----that cores are simply UNNECESSARY.

  • Don’t infuse exotics. Just grab them from collections after getting your light higher.
