I wonder how many customers Bungie has lost over this issue.

Many many many. I stuck through YEARS of questionable decisions and never left the game. I stopped playing for six months and cores was the reason. I’m a pretty middle of the road player so likely represent a good portion of the type of player that wants to play Destiny.
