I was hyped on Tuesday. Logged in after work, picked up all the bounties and the quest, jumped into IB for a couple of hours only to find out that "Test of Strength" is the only way to get the armor.
I havent touched IB since Tuesday. Ill probably wont even complete the 7 powerful gear bounties as Im already 750.
Meanwhile Ive been doing the Menagerie, got a god roll shotty, a god roll HC and enough armor pieces to build a set with perks to my liking. Ah, also got Wendingo on the road grinding runes in strikes.
I cant be bothered to grind tens of hours of IB for an armor set, sorry but I cant do it when I can much more in that time.

All I want is a pair of Donelan's with the cool wolf shoulders on them and I have them obviously from Year One and I even take them out even though right now they don't have random rolls on it. It should be nice to have them with random rolls but I understand that Bungie is a bunch of -blam!- that won't just give that to somebody because they've already earned it and another f****** expansion

The gloves are after step 2, capturing points. 1, 2, and 4 are by far the easiest and quickest. 3, can be rough, but team melees and grenades help you. I'm 68% into step 5 and my only complaint is the small amount you get for completing a match. I think it would be better if you got 5% for a loss/win, and then a doubling percentage for every win in a streak. Otherwise my opinion on the quest is, it is perfectly fine. People are blowing it out of proportion. It's day 3 and I'll maybe put in 15 hours to complete it on my first guardian. Seems fair to me. If you can't accept 15 hour run time for a endgame pvp quest, that you technically have 504 hours to complete, then not sure what to say. Even if you have 3 guardians, it's still maybe 45 hours of playtime, stretched over 3 weeks(504 hours) seems quite doable.
