Here is the bottom line for Iron Banner.
At over 2500 hours logged into Destiny 2, it is safe to say that I am not a casual player. However, the grind for iron Banner is very tedious and time-intensive, even with a dedicated team.
I want to do iron Banner because I enjoy playing Iron Banner and I don't mind working towards objectives even if it eats up most of my weekend. However, this grind for this particular iron Banner is in my opinion over the top. I want Bungie to respect my time as a player. I would love to play Iron Banner for fun instead of doing objectives where I'm forced to use different types of guns that I don't particularly like to run around with such as auto rifles and Scout rifles and other dumb weapons.
I really have lost interest in Iron Banner for the first time in Destiny 1 and Destiny 2. Why would I want to go and grind for armor that is going to come with random rolls and I'll be lucky if I get two or three drops by the time I get done with this ridiculous Quest on one character and never probably finish it on the other two characters when I can spend my time in a more substantial way inside the Menagerie getting multiple sets to drop on exactly the type of armor that I want and have a better chance of getting the types of roles that I want on that armor?
This, by the way, is exactly what is wrong with the Reckoning. I have no desire at all to go back into the Reckoning for any reason. Get together a fire team and hope that you clear the objective and get a chance to get a piece of armor that has a chance of getting the item that you want. I'm just done with it.
I'm not a hardcore gaming YouTuber. But I am a hardcore gamer when it comes to Destiny. And even this is too much for me.

I haven’t played IB since October
-
Just do as i do, f**k iron banner and all tedious quest all around...
-
Do what I did then, stop playing it only when it becomes a ghost town will they take notice.

Edited by FataLVisioN_Oo: 6/20/2019 10:11:08 PMIf the quest was account wide it wouldn't be as bad but since it's not... it's only getting done on one. Was irritating intentionally shooting someone from really far away with a shotgun to intentionally not kill them in hopes to atleast get a melee kill before they shotgunned me to death... felt like a suicide bomber or something it was dumb. That's just 1 example of the really dumb tactics I used to complete some of the really really really stupid quest steps.
-
Yeah, they got it wrong yet again. The first 2 steps were okay, but the ability portion is just stupid. Besides, I'm maybe 25 games in and barely into step 3.... and these are games where I'm racking up kills and my team of randoms usually comes out on top. At this rate we're looking at 60 games or more just to get dumbass armor I don't really want, and then I'm supposed to play for enhanced rolls? And what about my other two characters? Honestly, I'm just getting tired of new quests for old gear. And the second slot is only good in Menagerie? Who's going to grind for that?

Sparrow is 150 speed.

Bungie purposely picked the least popular weapons and made us get hundreds of kills with them. Then they made us run around and get grenade kills which is pretty difficult on a hunter in d2. Why would you pick things that we don’t like and make us do them? Seriously, Bungie?

Edited by SmokeShadow_27: 6/20/2019 5:18:20 PMHey Bungie: The Problem is that the quest isn't account wide. It would make wayyyy more sense to finish your bounties on 1 character, and then begin bounties on another character, while continuing the main quest progress as you go. As it stands now, you are probably barely starting step 3 by the time you are done with all the bounties on your first character, that is if you're at least an average player. So you are now stuck continuing the quest with no other reason other than to continue the quest, OR start bounties on another character only to have to come back to finish the quest on your first character. Zero respect of time. Disappointing. There's other shit we want to play in the game. We will still put the hours in, ffs. Matter of fact, I will go so far as to say why the logic here is flawed. I'm going to play about 20-25 hours this week, let's say. In those 25 hours, I can either have fun mixing it up with all of the cool content the developers have given us.... OR I can spend those same hours exclusively in Iron banner. I'm not playing any MORE hours because of this quest... I'm simply not diversifying my hours, which leads to boredom and frustration. Is this what Bungie wants? Yet again, their thought process to get their playerbase to put in more hours actually backfires, seeing as people will play the same amount but have less fun doing it, and/or more reason to critique and complain about the game. I get their logic... And i call it like i see it: flawed, and disappointing.
-
I agree with you. The thing that bothers me the most is that Bungie wants me to get melee/grenade kills in a game there they purposely neutered them to point of being useless. It's like a slap in the face to me. Nothing in this game should ever require me to get more than a few grenade/melee kills in PvP EVER.

Anyone know whats going on with the iron banner ornaments? I have unlocked them all in year 1 and can see it in my inventory/reclaim one and use it. But when I go to apply it there is a red text which reads "reach rank 15 this season". I am very confused. I have already done that in the season it unlocked, I have the ornament so why am I unable to use it on the new truage arms?

Edited by Gigafloh: 6/20/2019 6:55:03 PMIron Banner ist Just the noob version of quickplay, were bad players can get a kill with power advantage. No reason to participate in that as someone who cares about PvP. The Reckoning is at least challenging. It's not possible to lose in the menagerie and I don't even care who is in there with me.

Nothing seems to bring out the complainers more than Iron Banner. Makes for a fun read when I’m bored. 😂😂😂
-
where's the top line?
-
iron banner is good system only long play quest bounty's take to many time
-
Get rid if the level advantages and it will be fine. Literally all waste my resources infusing my pvp weapons. It’s stupid and shouldn’t even be in the game. Because you play more pve than me, let’s give you a damage increase. Because you get lucky with your leveling increase, hey let’s give you a damage increase. It’s a free game mode to all destiny players, let’s give those who play more a damage increase. I’m 737 and can’t even kill a player who is 750 with a sword. Like come on bungie, what is this shit?
-
The quest is fine. I just finished my Hunter and now I working on my Warlock. Quit bellyaching and get it done.
-
Tldr: bottom line- it sucks
-
The quest itself is not bad in fact it’s quite fun but the Grenade Kills are ridiculous.
-
How many times will iron banner be here during season 7? Yep.. that same old story of everyone trying to get everything asap. Get a life.
-
weak!!

Here's what ended up being the biggest issue for me. And this is based on what I've heard, so if anyone has different information please share. This new IB armor is supposed to be compatible with SoO mods. And supposedly they are tailored to Leviathan (Menagerie) and Hive, so PvE. I don't use Iron Banner armor for PvE. I'm the type of player that has PvE and PvP armor sets. I've always set up my Iron Banner armor as my PvP armor. So really, if I already have nice Iron Banner armor pieces, spec'd out for PvP, what's the point? Do the enhanced perks make that much difference? If I could even manage to get some?
-
This sums up iron banner. https://youtu.be/dWR15l2KYos
-
Bruh I'm about as casual as it gets, and I have the full armor set, sparrow and shaders as well as a curated Wizened Rebuke. And you're the hardcore one?
-
I agree that it’s ridiculous. The armor is the only thing to really go for cause of the random and enhanced perks but the rocket is trash and the shotty needs a specific roll to b viable. This just adds one big roadblock to the already tedious method of farming for IB gear

There is going to be at least two more Iron Banner events during this season. The grind is designed so that completing all content is hard to do in ONE season. Just pick one toon to complete this week. You are overthinking this a lot.

Edited by Ahbrahkzhus: 6/20/2019 6:26:45 PMI'm not sure why people are saying this is hard? I got the full set in two days and I'm Solo. From a hard core to another this quest isn't shit lol.
