There is/was a Cayde-7
Recently I got the class armor piece for the menagerie set and I found this interesting piece of lore.

Thus did the Shadow of Earth slay Cayde-7.
Then a visitor approached the throne of the Joyous
Emperor and proffered himself before the Generous Host.
He was Cayde-7, whose origins are recounted in
MCXXXVII.^
Cayde-7 knelt at the Emperor's feet, and kissed his boots,
saying:"Your trusted servant is here."
And the Emperor was pleased, for he thought this one
would make a very fine Shadow.
But the true Shadow of Earth, jealous of the Emperor's
love, cut down Cayde-7 where he stood in the Emperor's
throne room, and then dealt his ruins in such way as
to ensure that there would never be a Cayde-8.
The Emperor was pleased, and that night there was a
great feast aboard the Leviathan.

Either this has happened already or it is a prediction from a psion. Someone must've done something with Cayde's body to make him Cayde-7 while we were busy doing other things.
Edit: I just realized it was a bunch of shit made up by Calus a few days ago.

Everything written down in these lore tabs are the false claims of a Psion who Calus believes is predicting our Guardian's future with him. If you decide to look a little deeper you'll realize that half this shit doesn't make sense, like failsafe being an Exo. Hell there's even a guy at the end of every lore tab saying: dude this is wrong, that doesn't make sense Non of this will happen, don't take it as fact or use it as proof

1 ReplyThat’s from Calus’s fanfiction that he made a psion scribe write because reasons. It is almost entirely false.

A couple things: 1. In the lore books that Cayde left behind, it states that he will always stay Cayde 6, as long as he remembers who he is through his journals, and doesn’t change who he is. 2. The Scribes do not quite know exactly how we interact on Earth, nor do they know how Exos actually function, so there is most likely no way for them to understand how Cayde can’t really come back in that way.

1 ReplyThere was something I saw in one of mynameisbyf videos about cayde forcing himself to loose count of his resets as an exo and that the 6 in his name wasn’t actually accurate. Could this have possibly happened in one of caydes lives and then he was reset idk but maybe.

3 RepliesCayde 7 could exist in the future but if you read the rest of the lore entries on the opulent armor they are all hilariously outrageous (Example: one of the entries states that the shadow of earth with split the failsafe into two bodies and they will kill each other).

2 RepliesThis is a prediction from a Psion. However, it is made quite clear that the Psions cannot predict the future for Guardians. All these excerpts written by Calus’ Psions are heavily biased in Calus’ favor, twisting what knowledge they have to create a story that will satisfy Calus’ ridiculously inflated god complex.

A big part of the Menagerie lore is that Calus is insane and his foretelling of events is fiction (from the game’s PoV yes I am aware everything in Destiny is fiction).
