So how is a matchmade activity where there are no punishments for dying, not even close to difficult mechanics (this weeks boss, kill adds and toss a ball at them), where 5 players can be clueless and still get carried by #6, where when you run out of time you just get more encouters to run till you hit the boss which itself isnt even a darkness zone compare to far harder mechanics, deaths requiring tokens to revive, a time limit and necessary communication and smart play? T3 reckoning was far harder then the menagerie and most people hated the randoms they got in that...so how well would raids work? If anything reckoning is a clear display of why raid mm would be an abysmal failure and menagerie being easier then that proves nothing

  • I have 174 t3 reckoning clears with randoms. I have done all my raid clears with random people but using LFG. I failed more then twice that both ways and never completed t3 or a raid with clanmates. I can attest that it's possible to complete something like a raid with randoms. Would it be hard. Heck yeah. Is it possible. Yes it is.

  •
I have 174 t3 reckoning clears with randoms
And most people here constantly complain about the random they get, keep in mind t3 reck requires absolutely zero communication, has basically no mechanics and even so is failed a huge amount of times by mm groups.
I have done all my raid clears with random people but using LFG
HUGE difference. Power to kick, a say in who joins, a say in what gear they use, a requirement to join a party and have a mic and speak english, where if they disagree with the strategy and do thier own thing they get the boot, where afk players get the boot, etc
I failed more then twice that both ways and never completed t3 or a raid with clanmates.
So by your own admission a t3 reck has a success rate of 33% Imagine how much lower that would be with a raid group. Even guided games - where most of the team know each other is largely considered a failure and flops.
I can attest that it's possible to complete something like a raid with randoms.
The success rate on it should be something like maybe 2%. There are so many things that can and will go wrong, people who dont join the party, people who refuse to do anything, people that are just bad and cause wipes repeatedly, people that quit in middle, it would leave players more angry and frustrated which means more coming to the forums asking bungie to nerf the mechanics - which absolutely should not happen
Would it be hard. Heck yeah. Is it possible. Yes it is.
Its success rate would be so low it's simply not worth spending the little dev time and effort we get focusing on. There are far bigger issues for this game. It's really simple, if you have enough time to risk sitting in the raid failing for hours on end you had enough time to get on lfg and find a group and stand a far better chance

  • I git you mate. I know at the very least development wise would take time away from other things that are more important. Just kind of wish I had an opportunity cause I would use it.

  • Exactly. Reckoning is FAR more punishing than Menagerie is. I see menagerie as a fun way to get my loot. having 6 people in there is more fun than 3 or 4. But my god, blueberries will always be blueberries. In Menagerie it is fine, in Reckoning it is just asinine.

Menagerie is basically raid-lite. It has raid mechanics, but they are obvious and don't require any communication, and outside of just taking longer, there is zero punishment for "failing" encounters. If they did that with an actual raid, it would be an absolute joke to anyone that actually plays the raids. Raids are supposed to be challenging, endgame content, not just another participation activity for free loot.
