PvP map design sucks

Destiny 2 PvP map design is awful. These maps are probably the worst things designed by mankind, and we live in a world where the edsel, pinto, and pontiac aztek exist. 😕

      • I like mid sized maps. More big open maps make it really hard for gun fights to happen and utilize team shooting at a zone or heavy cap.

      • D2 maps were made for 4v4 only gameplay. Just bad design from the start. The folks at Bungie really thought that 4v4 only gameplay would be better and more popular than 6v6. They were so incredibly wrong and the maps have suffered ever since. Dear Bungie, since you already re-use D1 assets, why not the PvP maps?

          • That is because D2 maps are 4v4 maps. But some people wanted 6v6. And bungie made the terrible decision to shove 12 people in a map made for 8 people.

            I think the main issue is that these maps were designed for 4v4 not 6v6. My issue is the appearance of the maps. Most of them just aren’t all that memorable.

            • breakthrough is possibly the worst thing to happen in the history of destiny pvp. They bet everything on a mode that's barely even in the game anymore and now we're stuck with those awful maps in the rotation for modes that they weren't made for

                    • There is no reason why Dead Cliffs should be in Mayhem.. lol. Them blade barrage knives go end to end in that sumbeech. Striker Titan be all up in my goodies, then I spawn on the other side, and he up in em again.

                      • D2 map design is their way of banning snipers and promoting shotgun play. Because apparently, 10 years ago, everyone hated snipers. Evervsince Counterstrike, snipers were king if you had the skill. But now, game developers have moved away from sniper heavy games. Given them scope glint, took away the bushes, tightened the corners, added too many blocks, too much cover, extremely few lanes. D2 is just a terrible game if youre a sniper player. Its a great game for shotgun players no surprises there.

                        • They were designed for the PvP gameplay Bungo dropped with D2...which they loved...but the players hated...so was vastly changed... Yeah, when gameplay and maps are so closely developed and then only one of them is completely overhauled, a shitshow ensues.

                          • THIS SO MUCH. I hate so many except for like 3. Some are good but in comp they can only be countdown. Other maps are so easy to manipulate spawns on (especially in control) that they shouldn’t even exist.

                            • the majority of maps should have close quarters areas as well as 1 or 2 open areas where long range weapons can shine. people will typically congregate in the close quarters areas tho. first light in D1 was a good large map with close quarter areas peppered throughout the map

                            • I feel like the maps were designed for a halo 3 sandbox and movement, and when you plop guardians with the ability to traverse very quickly with a fast ttk, this design philosophy doesn't work
