Why only 5% of players do raids.

This is my opinion:
and before anyone tries to stat-shame me, I had 125+ raid clears in D1, but only 11 in D2 so I have some experience.
I think that there are a couple reasons so many people don't do raids in this game (scheduling a team, mechanics, RNG loot) but one of the main reasons overall being the risk vs. reward. Players want to experience everything these encounters have to offer but don't want to be punished for attempting/completing them. Let's all admit it: RNG can be punishing. The mechanics can be punishing also, but not as bad as RNG. Last night our clan finally decided to attempt Scourge of the past together. We had 4 first timers, one guy who had completed it through lfg, and later picked up a 6th who had done it. We first-timers watched the tutorial videos so we had an idea of what to do. It took us about 6-7 tries to get past the first part. We had the mechanic down by the 3rd attempt but kept getting Berserkers spawing at 2 but dropping the orb for 4 (or 3 and 1 too) and couldn't make it across the map in time. Finished that and I got arms. Went underground, took about 20 minutes to make it through the little maze. Made it to the Sparrow part... That was interesting. Took about 8-9 tries to get past it. I punched the -blam!- out of that switch by the door. We made our way to the end. It took us about 3-4 times to get the symbols and tanks up and finish the first phase. I got boots. After about the 4th-5th attempt at Insurrection Prime we decided to call it for the night. Hopefully we can pick it up and finish it later today. As I was playing I realized that, for me, this raid wasn't as bad as some of the others in this game. Last Wish is okay, EoW is okay. Spire is my least favorite. Leviathan is meh lol. I think the biggest problem is the raids in D2 are harder than they should be. The orb obsession/shenanigans with these raids I really don't understand. Yes, killing the Ogres in spawn in Kingsfall for the Oryx Challenge was difficult, but we didn't have "Revive Tokens" limiting revives/attempts (and my self-res Warlock saved a wipe once or twice) so it forces you to start over/wipe if someone makes a mistake. Those mistakes could be glitches but everyone gets punished. I'm not sure where this idea of "Let's make beautiful content but limit it to x number of revives/attempts". D1 didn't have this mechanic. I know that (limited revives) made most of our other clanmates not want to do these raids. If they added this to make raids more "challenging" then it's bad business. They spend so much time and effort on making these sometimes wonderful encounters I don't undertsand why they wanted to punish players. Scourge actually wasn't that bad about deaths causing failure/wipes but some of the other raids... So for me risking my time in Scourge, my reward was arms and boots. I hope I can finish Insurrection Prime and maybe get something nice/usable from RNG. I hope eventually they can make the raids in this game more playable/accessable to players and more rewarding.

  • Nope you are wrong that's not the real reasons. In D1(at start) you had to do the raid to get to the lvl cap. In D2 they literally give you free lvl, anyone can easly get to the cap doing random things. Think D1 system needs to be back, on D1 the lvl meant something, but in D2 do not mean anything cause it's "free"

Why aren’t arms or boots usable? They’re as usable and rewarding as any other armour piece a first timer could get from the raid? Also scourge is one the easiest raids in both D1 and D2. After 1-3 clears it’ll be like a walk in the park. King’s fall was much harder and more complex.

I think I have over 200 carries in D2 raids. I had maybe 50 in D1. D2 raids are so much easier than D1 raids it’s almost sad. The second hardest encounter in the game (Shiro chi) is like mid tier difficulty at best. The only truly difficult encounter (riven legit) can be cheesed to the point you can ignore all mechanics. As far as time investment goes, of course it’s going to take hours to get through your first raid, but I can run any of the D2 raids in an hour or less. This is why people require clears, so they don’t have to waste an hour trying to teach someone a single encounter.

        • For me I don't want to do raids. Back in D1 I loved them. I liked the clan I was in since we did a raid almost every night. In D2 I left the clan since I wasn't playing all that much. My kid was. So he joined another clan and they do their things. I'm fine with what I do. I know if I want to do a raid I can go LFG for one. I don't like talking much on headsets or microphones. I also don't complain about being a soloist on this game. If I want more I need to do more It's just that I have better things to do then grind for stuff I don't even want.

You ain't risking anything, you chose to do it and spend the time in there. Rewards are raid based rewards, so raid armour and raid weapons, what were you expecting to get from doing 2 checkpoints? Raids are plenty rewarding and easy enough to get into, thousands and thousands of posts go on lfg on a weekly basis with people looking for players.
