Hunter’s Golden Gun is just bad in pvp.
Going either way of the sharp shooter, or outlaw, golden gun is easily outclassed by other supers within the game regarding pvp, as a hunter main throughout my days of destiny 1&2 since the very day of its own launch, I’ve stayed with the hunter. Golden gun was good in destiny 1 in pvp, it could 1v1 other supers as it one shotted them and no one complained as it was actually balanced, the trade off being no over shield/extra tank health added onto it, so shutting down a golden gun wasn’t hard as long as you hit your shot killing them before they could hit you.(shotguns, snipers, etc)Now in destiny 2, for some reason the ability to one shot other supers with the golden gun such as the Hammer of Sol on the titan and the storm caller on the warlock isn’t there anymore. Now i just feel like the solar tree isn’t viable besides way of the thousand cuts or the blade barrage. It’s quite frustrating going against a hammer of sol or stormcaller with my 3 shots having to either use 2/3 shots and hope they don’t see me and one shot me with their ridiculous AoE and tracking. All a hammer of sol has to do is look in my very direction press the corresponding button to throw their hammer and bam, I’m dead while I’m here not even getting the chance to get my second shot off as my first didn’t even do half of their hp. yes I could go way of the outlaw with my 6 subsequent shots but then I’ll lose accuracy and super duration, and even then they’ll kill me before I can kill them. The fight between a golden gun and any other super is always one sided, and that needs to be changed by reverting to destiny 1 golden gun giving us the one shot on other supers making it balanced, as again we still do not get an overshield/ more hp and do not have any type of AoE, like other more capable and potent supers like storm caller and hammer of sol.

Golden gun can one shot regular guardians and two shot super-mega-ultra guardians. Seems fair to me

1 ReplyYeah how about no. 6 one shots against supers would be ridiculous, and since golden gun is hitscan you literally can't avoid it except for with sheer luck alone. Golden gun doesn't NEED armor to be good, nor does it need armor because it has something no other super besides chaos reach has, which is instant death. Golden gun should never be like it was in d1 because absolutely no super could contest it at all. Every super either traded or lost if you could aim the damn thing at all, which isn't hard with 100 aim assist being hit scan. I understand your reasoning for wanting what you want, but golden guns range alone is what prevents it from deserving this kind of buff. And unlike hammers, you have no chance of avoiding the hit at all if you are in the cross hairs unless you get extremely lucky. I've seen many people, including myself, miss close range attacks because of the crazy movement players can do. Golden gun doesn't suffer nearly as bad from this. And with golden gun being one of the biggest counters to sentinel in the game and with thundercrash being a mobile one off super...how will titans beat a golden gun? How will warlocks beat golden gun? According to d1, you dont.

13 RepliesHunter main, I for one think the golden gun is fine the way it is. In my opinion the six-shooter is pretty useful especially as a shut down super I feel. I’ve run into other supers of other classes, no more than two shots to put them down. It just depends on how you use the super.

Only Supers that outright hard-counter it are Bubble(blocking Sentinel loses) and deflecting Arcstrider. It's got a pretty decent shot at beating every other Super, especially in more open areas. Either hit the quick two shots, or line up the headshot. It's as simple as that; varies with player's skill.(Or just use Nighthawk as the ultimate "No, f*** you!" button, and get some lulz and a third of your Super back for it.)

Tbh golden gun is fine, it could use 2 more seconds so that it’s in line with D1 golden gun. The main issue I have is with Throwing knives. They need to do more damage to the head. Not a ohk, but still something deadly, for example doing 160 damage to the head for Knife juggler would be good.

Go play on the opposite side of the spectrum and get a modded controller with scripts like most “good” golden gunners use. Nothing like hitting 4+ kills instantaneously with enemies are surrounding you 360 degrees.
