Location of the last City

Where is The Traveler located on Earth Bungie has been pretty vague about where it is besides saying it's on Earth I've been thinking about where it could be located ever since the first game came out Originally I figured it was somewhere in Russia But Hawthorne mentions having to fly across a ocean from the European dead zone to get back to the city That would seem to indicate to me That it's located somewhere in North America but I would like to hear someone else's ideas on where could be located
Moderator edit: This thread has been updated with tags that are more appropriate. • ......wasn't the wall broken in the cosmodrome durring rise of iron? Plus the edz has a piece of the traveler when it got damaged. I think lore wise the iron lords helped people get to the city . Vostok is close to the cosmodrome. Also in the beginning of d2 our guardian walked from the city to the edz where he met Hawthorne. So like, it has to be in Europe right?

  • Dude it’s simple. The last city would be what remained of the strongest and greatest nation on earth. Because it’d be the only nation to relatively survive. Therefore, the last city is murica

    • My theory is that it’s in a Norse country like Finland. Reason being that it’s located between Russia (Cosmodrome from D1) and the UK (where I presume the EDZ is located) and the Baltic Sea separates Finland from the UK. Also a very Northern country which explains the snow on the mountains outside in D1.

Good thing I saved this list I made of all the evidence. I hope you find it useful. (Note that 1-4 are simply anti-Cosmodrome evidence, and 9 is the most solid evidence we have of the Last City’s location.)
Traveler location Evidence: 1. Proof that the City and Cosmodrome are separate places. The Cosmodrome was built during the Golden Age. The City was built during the Dark Ages, and the City Walls were built during the City Age. The belief that the City and Cosmodrome walls are the same thing is a common misconception that has been disproven. 2. Proof that the City and Cosmodrome are separate places. On several occasions we have been given views of large sections of the Cosmodrome. We also have had several full views of the City. Comparing these views and the areas contained within the City and the Cosmodrome, along with their surroundings, makes it obvious that they are different locations. The separate effects of the Red War and the SIVA Crisis confirm that they are separate locations. 3. After being revived, you have to fly out of the Cosmodrome to go to the City. Our Ghost states that a jumpship was necessary. Had the City been nearby or part of the Cosmodrome, you would have walked there and not gone looking for a ship. So the City isn’t close to the Cosmodrome (or still leaves Russia as a possibility, though). 4. Can you see the Traveler from the Cosmodrome? No. As stupid as this evidence seems, I can’t believe I need to say it. 5. When Eva Levante was staying at the Farm, Tess Everis video-called her. It was deep in the night at the Farm (most likely long after nightfall but long before sunrise), but the sun was up in the Tower. The Farm is located in Europe, so we know the Tower is nowhere near Europe do to this large difference in time zones. https://www.ishtar-collective.net/entries/invisible-scars#book-evas-journey 6. Saraya Hawthorne states that she had to fly “across the pond” to save City refugees during the Red War. The “pond” is the Atlantic Ocean. The Atlantic is specifically the body of water referred to as the “pond” in the use of this slang term (in real-world present-day and past). All other likely bodies of water suggested by other people are proven incorrect by Evidence 1. This means that the City is in the Americas. 7. Amanda Holiday asks you to “jump across the pond” to the European Dead Zone to track the murderer of Master Ives. See Evidence 2. 8. A man died of a terciopelo bite by the northern wall. The terciopelo is a South American snake (if my sources are correct, it lives in northern South America). https://www.ishtar-collective.net/entries/the-colony?highlight=Northern 9. Amanda Holliday moved South through Panama to reach the City, heading for South America. This is the most solid piece of evidence we have. 10. The early members of the Pilgrim Guard went South to the City. Spreading rumors of the Safe City all only said it was “far South”, a direction so general that it suggests the City was far South and in a location where it would be very hard to miss. This makes the southern or northern ends of South America the best candidates, but could also leaves the possibility that the City is in another location like the southern or northeastern tips of Africa. https://www.ishtar-collective.net/entries/question-after-question#book-ecdysis 11. Some people believe that the City is located near the Caspian Sea, because Jagi’s Host was last seen East of the Caspian Sea. This evidence has no backing, because they could have been any distance from the City. This logic would make any location with Guardian activity a possible location (anywhere from Rezyl Azzir in the Tescan Valley of South America to a Guardian in the Manhattan Nuclear Zone to Holborn’s Host on Mars), and is very flawed. To further weaken this theory: the Ghosts from Jagi’s Host returned separately over an extended period of time, suggesting that Jagi’s Host met its demise very far from the City. In addition, Evidence 1 contradicts this theory. https://www.ishtar-collective.net/cards/ghost-fragment-titan?highlight=Jagi 12. The Shard of the Traveler is in the European Dead Zone. How did it get there, so far from the Traveler? We know the Traveler isn’t anywhere near it. What the heck?! Tyra Karn says the Traveler shed it during the Collapse, but this implies some crazy stuff happened during the Collapse and the Traveler moved a lot during that time. 13. In Rise of Iron, during the Gjallarhorn quest line, we visit the Bannerfall map (one of the seven abandoned Towers around the City). The location is marked as Old Russia, Earth (note that in all other appearances, Bannerfall is only marked as The Last City, Earth). This should be absolute proof that the Last City is in Russia, but the possibilities are infuriatingly complicated. Other information contradicts this. On the map, Bannerfall was placed northwest of the Cosmodrome, which is basically blasphemy against the heavily emphasized description of the City being far South of everything. This also goes against almost every other hint we have, which all suggest that the City is not near the Cosmodrome. But if the City isn’t in Old Russia, why did the mission say it was? If this is the case, then the only possibility I can think of is that the information is false due to game mechanics and the complications of changing the locations in Destiny. Stuff like that happens a lot in video games, and their effects have been seen in Destiny. 14. The landscape around the Last City has been compared to several real-world locations, such as Chile or Nepal. None of these have been proven true. 15. One person used the angle of the Sun and the day/night time period as evidence that the Last City was near the North or South Pole (most likely the South Pole, do to previous evidence. However, the day/night cycle in Destiny is constant and does not follow real-world day/night patterns, so this evidence isn’t reliable. 16. The weather and climate is sometimes used to attempt to guess the Last City’s location. This isn’t reliable because the game has set generic weather patterns that aren’t realistic and can change for specific reasons such as holidays. For example, the City experiences permanent night during the Festival of the Lost and snow around Christmas time, despite being unrealistic and potentially contradicting the City’s location. These weather events are constructs simply used for celebrating events as a game, and shouldn’t be relied upon as evidence. The actual climate of the City was described by the Pilgrim Guard as “arable, temperate, and with too many indigenous parasites for the Fallen to wish it as a customary home. Even if there is no safe city there, it is a better place to guide civilians than the ravaged deserts and plains of the north.” https://www.ishtar-collective.net/entries/question-after-question#book-ecdysis
• It’s probably in South America due to having to “hop across the pond” (the ocean) to get to the EDZ, and Amanda Holliday mentions a type of snake indigenous to South America.
