Nine cutscene thoughts

The ships belong to the Hive. I know alot of you are gonna say no but the emissary mentions two women, I believe she's talking about Mara and Eris. Eris left to finish her business with Hive, the game makes this very clear. So why would the emissary (possibly) mention her? IMO I think everyone is so ready for a new enemy type they are overlooking the obvious. I think we'll get a new enemy but not until Destiny 3. We still have yet to see Savathun and Xivu Arath, could it be that they're on the way to our system? Also, phrase "Shape of your trial" may be a hint. The hive speak of final shapes. Extra thought: Savathun has been mentioned since vanilla D2. Y'all really think Bungie is gonna spend all this time giving her a strike, mentioning her in two other strikes and two adventures just to bypass her for a new enemy type? That makes no sense at all.

  • 1. Those ships are clearly the Darkness 2. They gave Savathûn a strike? Like..she’s in the game? Where?

<Y'all really need to take the hints that even BUNGIE is giving you. The Darkness wasn't just written out of the game, it's bring built up slowly. The ships aren't Hive. The architecture is completely different, most Hive structures fell mostly in line with Oryx's even if they were covered in barnacles and eggs. Even Savathûn's style so far shows that the pyramids aren't Hive. There are said barnacles and eggs EVERYWHERE, as well was random masses of chitin. It's messier than Oryx. The ships aren't made from chitin, instead solid metal. The lights on the ships aren't random, they're uniform. Oryx's architecture doesn't fit, neither does the combined might of Xivu and Savathûn. All Hive came from them, and Nokris's brood didn't deter from the norm when it came to important structures. There's also, IDK, the numerous hints building up the Darkness. - First ever D2 cutscene: The silhouette of a triangle overshadows the Traveler, shown as the narrator describes the Traveler's "ancient enemy". - Traveler's Dream cutscene (reinforced by concept art for that scene): Pyramids show up after visions of the Collapse, shadow of one seen while the Traveler is on Io, the last place it touched. - End credits: Pyramid ships wake up after the Light hits them, suggesting a pretty -blam!-ing big connection. The Hive were already awake and moving, not to mention that the Hive need to kill to survive. Everything in those ships would've been consumed by their worms if they were Hive. - Mara's Court: The Queen shows us a hologram of the ships, while talking about the nature of Light and Dark. - Gambit: The Motes of Dark take a tetrahedral shape, reinforcing the connection between the Darkness and the ships. - The End: The Drifter describes a second extinction-level event, Mara described another Collapse. The Hive didn't start our Collapse, the Darkness did. The ships aren't Hive because the style doesn't fit any brood, heretic or not. The mere act of waking up after being out in deep space for thousands of years backs this up due to the Worm/Hive relationship. They aren't Vex either because they don't need ships and it still doesn't fit their art style.> <EDIT: the Hive speak of Final Shapes because the Final Shape IS the Darkness. You're right, we aren't going to get a new race until D3, but their appearance will be directly tied to these ships. We'll deal with the Hive in Y3.>

      • Personally I think the nine are referring to Mara and Elsie Bray

Considering I haven’t gone into detail examining the cutscene yet I’ll hold off on saying too much, but it seems far more likely that the ships are the Darkness and not connected to Savathûn or the Hive. They are the harbingers of a second Collapse, the first one having been triggered when the Darkness showed up the first time. Mara Sov seems to be planning for the arrival of these ships, while it appears Eris is still working with her. The comment on ruined fleets brings two things to mind. The Dreadnought, which lies at the centre of the wreckage of two fleets, and Mara’s comments to the Emissary in the Queen’s court. We will not see those ships in D2. The cutscene showing them awakening was placed at the end of Vanilla D2, it’s a teaser for D3. Which let’s be fair, is far better build up than one mission two years before the payoff. Savathûn will be the large threat we face in D2, we’ve played a part in her machinations for too long. Though I would not be surprised if the current preparations this secretive alliance undertaking is for the Witch-Queen, with the Triangle Ships still being on their minds.

I don't think it's the hive. Savathuns forces have been in the system before they woke up for one. Two: those ships only woke up with the traveler and have been knocked out for a long time. Three: those ships are called the falling veil by the nine. I believe those ships are the darkness. Four: eris isnt after the hive anymore, as the Mara showed her the true threat. Which is stated in the lore tabs that those ships are in fact the true enemy.

          • That definitely makes sense. I just hope that if it is the Hive, that there are some MASSIVE differences between them and the Hive seen so far.
