Do you see the Scorn as a separate entity from the Fallen? Or are they just the Fallen with a new coat of paint?
-
1 ReplyI wouldn’t mind if the Fallen were replaced the Scorn after a while.
-
6 RepliesYep. They look almost completely different from the fallen, they have unique abilities, and you can't approach them in the same way you would fallen. They're not the best thing since sliced bread, but they're unique enough to be their own race.
-
Scorn are literally no longer Fallen. They’re something completely different.
-
I consider them a rather lazy mashup of existing races, so not their own distinct race. The Ogres are just ripped straight out of Hive. The exploders are just faster thrall. The snipers are vandals. I was just about to say the shield dudes offered the only unique mechanic, but nope... we have Phalanxes. I guess um... the lantern dudes that are holding their crit point in their hand? I guess that counts as something new...? >_>

12 RepliesEdited by Grays_KS27: 5/17/2019 11:19:59 PMThe Scorn are literally just dead Fallen that were brought back to life, becoming increasingly feral as they continue to exist (do not lose your humanity, Ashen One). They even retain memories and everything. The corrupted Ether destroys their bodies, but they are still physically and mentally Eliksni. If zombies were real, would we not distinguish between a human zombie and a deer zombie? (Yeah, that’s the best example I could think of before my brain derailed on the idea of deer zombies…) Variks considers the Scorn to be the embodiment of the word “Fallen” and what the Eliksni have become: creatures of rage and hate, a dead race, destroying everything. Edit: ^^^That is from the lore perspective. In terms of game mechanics, the Scorn are notably different from the Fallen, but similar comparisons could be made between other enemies of the same race (Ex. Hive Ogre vs Hive Wizard, same species but incredibly different).

The most aggressive race ever that just runs away.

2 RepliesWell, considering that the scorn are zombies, let me compare it with this: Do you consider the guardians a unique human/awoken/exo race?
-
1 ReplyAll races feel the same
-
They feel so similar to Fallen, yet their design is different. It’s an odd thing to go against.
-
Back when Forsaken first launched, they did feel like a new alien race. Now, it's all just been absorbed into the game and the Scorn feel as much a part of the game as the rest of them. I think the whole "Fallen zombie" lore explanation was lame though. The Scorn could have had a much better story. Even something like being lost in space for ages and stumbling upon the Reef. They didnt need to be associated with Fallen at all.

Edited by Gayl3_Force_12: 5/20/2019 4:16:34 PMI consider them fallen but not a reskin. To me they are just new fallen units. The same way the shield knights were still hive but with new moves. Honestly I would prefer it if they added lots of new enemy unit types just because it would make the enemies seem less monolithic.
-
1 ReplySaying scorned are reskined fallen is like saying hive are reskined cabal since they both shoot and have melee drones
-
Scorn are basically evil fallen guardians
-
1 ReplyEdited by SirHeadPoppington: 5/19/2019 2:59:33 PMNo way jose, same way the taken are just other races reskinned
-
Just like the Taken, they look cool but annoying as -Yoink-

3 RepliesSorta, their still fallen but almost like a subspecies. A undead subspecies
-
1 ReplyI want to see some Cablorn or some Scrabal.

Yes. Same as how i consider taken as different.

We’ve had so many variations of the fallen. There’s the OG houses, then there’s dusk, then there’s variks, then there’s Mithrax, SIVA devils, and scorn. Far to many. In D1 each enemy faction had a different subset for each planet. Now we get to fight the same enemies over and over again. It’s both good and bad that there were so many different variations of each enemy. On one hand it’s just reusing old character models but with different colors, and the other it adds some level of depth to the story. Scorn are Fallen.

Zombie fallen
-
So here’s the thing the only original part about them is the arc totems all their attacks are old and combat styles are old as well and I get it it’s hard to stay within the lore and bounds of the game and you can’t use to many new things but I actually dread fighting the scorn I’m just so aware that they are very unoriginal and even the lore behind them sucks

Edited by ShadowSlasher10: 5/18/2019 6:17:52 AMScorn is an enemy race that has different behaviours, different ways of fighting, different looking. It's basically when you fight an enemy combatant that has a gun with covering mechanics, then that combatant turns into a stumbling zombie, same enemy but different.

Edited by Ghostfire239: 5/18/2019 6:10:38 AMGameplay wise they’re kinda different, but then again most of the enemy AI act in the exact same predictable way. Appearance wise they look VERY different

They're unique, but almost as annoying as the Taken.
