Whisper Reserves nerfed into the ground should give us at least 12 shots
i feel like the nerf was just way into the ground even with the sniper reserves its still to low when the majority of players did this quest we were 390 and it was a 400 level activity it was not easy. Nobody in the community was complaining about this weapon neither were they complaining about sleeper and they nerfed that as well why fix something if it is not broken?

1 ReplyI understand the explanation that "if you don't miss your shots, it's still got infinite damage." Well, yeah. But it sucks that the d@mn thing is basically a paperweight, because I can't use it on anything that I'm not going to get 3 precision shots on (god forbid I waste a couple shots on not-a-boss).

Bump. I would really appreciate to increase the Whisper back to normal sniper level like 16 ... 18. This would not hurt anyone, and would not take away from anyone. But it would make a lot of good will. Bungie, please.

6 RepliesToo all the people who say “hit your crits”, have you ever wanted to just, you know... take out a shield? I am in the minority with this guy. Bumping the ammo to 12 would give Whisper a little more leeway if you want to take out a shield or regular enemy. 9 just seems very low. 20 was obviously way too high but to drop it 11 shots was pretty unnecessary imo.

The gun essentially has an infinite amount of ammo. As long as you are good enough to hit all crits then there will be no problem.

Not only that whisper breathing is so inconsistent giving ammo back when hitting crit shots.

Especially for console this nerf is brutal. That’s why I don’t even use whisper in zero hour there’s just too much flinch. Has there even been a zero hour configuration and boss kill in one run on console? Even the streamers doing it on PC are switching weapons on the fly and using zero recoil whisper to melt everything.

9 RepliesThe only reason they nerfed the ammo on those weapons was to extend the time it takes to clear activities with said weapons. Just about everything Bungie does is related to them trying to squeeze more logged in time out of the minute number of people still playing D2. Nobody has to “complain” for this to happen.

Honestly, I would have been okay with it if Whisper had very high handling. As is, it zooms so slow and easily flinched. So using it in a PVE setting would be very situational. I usually use it for forges or high health boss activities. But now even with reserves I get 12 shots, it's enough really, but it's not as powerful as before especially for an exotic that we had difficulty (initally) getting.

The goal is to make the game as bland as possible. Look at the season, whats promoted then look at the next season and watch it get nerfed. Warmind Ikelos shotgun - forced to be solar, then nerfed a second time just cause Ikelos sniper - forced to be solar, box breathing broken forever no longer top tier perk Whisper - Nerfed Sleeper Nerfed Forsaken Shards - nerfed OEM-nerfed Ursas-Nerfed Luna-nerfed NF-nerfed 1k-nerfed Thunderlord - nerfed Queensbreaker - Nerfed Next season they will nerf all of the black armory stuff then the one after anything that is good from season of the drifter. The will literally use the items in all the promos and once the dlc is sold out comes the nerf hammer. Bungie in my opinion has a nerf schedule for all items and the Outbreak and Recluse are the next 2 to go.

41 RepliesImho the problem is actually the lack of alternative to the black spindle. It is the one and only DPS weapon. Period. Nothing else compares rivals or competes, even from million light years away, except may be those lucky enough to loot jotun or voices. In practice, solo means having whisper with catalyser. Not just solo actually. So boring. So million light years away from the fun we used to have during DPS sessions in D1. D2 should have been named rise of the boredom - whisper 1.0.1.

2 RepliesThe nerf made no sense and was just a huge bummer. I never use whisper anymore because of it. It's hard enough to get the white nail perk to activate and it's not an easy gun to aim. It was also very hard to earn along with its catalyst so why punish players that put the time in to get it?

It works just the same. It just means you have less ammo to make mistakes with is all. It still works the same in any other situation you would normally use it in. I wouldn't even really call it a nerf. It's still miles above the Black spindle in terms of how good it is at doing it's job.

No it should have only 3 max, with each purple crate refilling 1/2 ammo only. The issue with the gun is the gun itself. Like is next annual pass also be all about pressing R2 on the black spindle? It’s so boring 12mln players have been playing 2 years with this weapon. I get it, some kids are very happy to try all the weapons they saw their older brothers play with and we hear every single one of them as if they were legions, BUT THEY’RE 200 to 300k max. Bungie time to wake up.

1 ReplyI think everyone here is missing the point that the reduction in reserves restricts the usage of the gun to be solely for boss DPS. Before you had some leeway as to whether you could expend some ammo on anything else besides a high HP target that will be able to survive at least 3 shots from the whisper. So basically to you know, use the gun as a sniper. Now if you decide to use the gun that way, if your luck with heavy ammo bricks falls short you end up with less power ammo than if you were to use a different weapon in a similar role. As a little hitch, yes the gun also becomes less forgiving with mistakes especially when white nail doesn't trigger properly.
