my strat is to use fallen armaments to get heavy ammo in the first few add clear sections and save all that ammo for the boss room and don't use it on any other enemy other than the boss, you can kill the walkers with shotguns however if you run out of shotgun ammo then killing the walkers can take a little longer. Best heavy for the boss imo is 1K voices.
