Since update 2.2.1 which reportedly increased the drop rate of dreaming city cosmetic items I have completed the ascendant challenge each week on all three characters. Mostly solo, some with a second guardian. I have yet to see the shell drop.
By my calculations there would be around a 90% chance of seeing it by now, just on post-update completions.
I got Pallas Galliot from Vorgeth on the second attempt and finished my lore book so noticed a real difference after 2.2.1 except with regard to the shell.
My question are:
- am I just unlucky or is there another requirement in order to get the shell to drop? I have not completed the last wish raid nor completed all the ascendant time trials.
- have other seen the shell drop since the patch?
Thanks in advance for anyone taking the time to share their thoughts.

Edited by Minerva: 5/11/2019 9:18:11 AMI did the ascendent challenge on each of my characters and got the shell out of the last chest. This was a week or so after the increased drop rates. I haven’t done all of the time trials, just a couple. On the other hand, I have done Last Wish on each of my characters each week and still no 1k voices (which was increased from 5% to 10% drop rate). I am not sure how many times I’ve cleared it since the drop rate increase, but I have like 64 Last Wish clears. It’s all I need for Rivensbane. So, I feel you. 😅

I believe Bungie said it’s a 20% drop rate now? (Someone correct me if I’m wrong) I got it on my 2nd Ascendant Challenge after the update. Meanwhile...the drop rate for the Last Wish Glittering Key was also buffed to 20% and I have done 9 runs without it dropping. Funniest part is I got 2 One Thousand Voices to drop in a row which is only a 10% drop rate lol 🤷♂️
