Just an FYI, according to light GG, as of about 2 minutes ago more people currently have recluse than Luna's howl. As both of these guns are strong, and a direct counter for each other within their respective ranges, I believe the nerf to luna's will only make recluse the next meta. I believe that that with this info, Luna's should not be nerfed. I have both weapons and use each of them based on maps so I know how well they work. Let me know your thoughts/feedback.

1 ReplyRecluse Runs On A 900 RPM Category MOA Increases Damage For A Body Shot To What A Precision Shot Would Do In PVE It's Very Easy To Activate And When Youre Enemies Are Far Away MOA Increases Body Damage So Recluse Is Still Good Mate.

1 ReplyEdited by Lull9: 5/3/2019 8:28:25 PMRecluse is good but it's not a strategic weapon like a hand cannon is. It excels most against the more chaotic, larger lobby sizes of lower skilled people in quickplay.

...master of arms procs on kill magnificent howl procs on spawn with 2 crits... no. “As of 2 minutes ago” really my guy? Maybe the only reason you are seeing changes is because of the incoming nerf? Ever think about that?
-
Recluse will be the next thing players will call to nerf sadly.
-
Recluse will definitely be the next meta at least on console. Pc still has ace which is arguably better than not forgotten even pre-nerf so not much will change

2 RepliesRecluse is not a direct counter

1 ReplyEdited by l09047: 5/3/2019 8:25:48 PMit depends bro, if they add bloom and recoil the luna/nf your probably right but if there is no bloom or recoil added luna/nf will remain the meta. Devs making huge mistakes with this nerf because they failed to understand why luna/nf are meta, which is bloom/recoil/consistency. The reason so many people are upset with the luna/nf nerf is because it really means they arent fixing bloom/recoil with all the other hc which is what people wanted, and needed to make other hc's meta.

7 RepliesWe all saw a nerf to the Ikelos Shotgun (and others in the same full auto archetype) but still see Ikelos everywhere. I was pissed about the nerf but guess what!? I still main a Curated Threat Level on all 3 characters most of the time. It's still potent even though rpm dropped from 200 to 140. You won't notice much difference in performance of LH/NF after the nerf IMO. Alot of players dont even fire at 180 rpm, they pace their shots to make sure to hit crits, probably fire at 150-160 rpm anyway. You will still 3 tap and outgun most other guns. Highly skilled players dont need any help getting kills, pretty sure you shredded mediocre players finishing the quest to get them.

3 Repliesbeing as both are locked from most players - does it matter?

6 RepliesWell, Luna’s is notably harder to get so that’s not a surprise. Recluse doesn’t really hold a candle to Luna in terms of effectiveness otherwise you would see it in high comp, which you don’t, like ever. Recluse is fun and powerful, but really just gimmicky. Luna is oppressively powerful

I'm pretty sure that's is bungies plan. Good job figuring it out. Nerf one gun and a new one is a favorite.

1 ReplyThe whole point of a Meta Shift is to do that... change the meta. LH has been the most used Energy weapon on all pvp gamemodes for over 8 months now, that's the longest meta there has ever been in both D1 and D2. Also, the amount of people HAVING X weapon means nothing, what counts is how many people are USING X in PvP. According to guardian.gg, LH is still the most used energy weapon with around 20% on multiple modes. https://guardian.gg/2/weapon-stats/2/71/0/2019-04-03/2019-05-03

The recluse has no range. It requires one to get a kill to utilise the perk. Lunas effectively rewards extra damage for hitting crits, where one should be hitting crits with hand cannons anyway. Far more range. Next to no recoil. IMO lunas makes you turn into a sweaty coont. No bias. I have both. Recluse felt like the better reward for hitting fabled. My luna remains in the vault from when I got it.

1 ReplyEdited by Freak: 5/3/2019 7:57:19 PMIt’s everywhere because 1) It’s a lot easier to reach fabled this season. 1a) No quest steps for the recluse either. 2) the recluse already is meta. 3) I believe PvE is going to get the recluse Nerfed faster than PvP will. The thing absolutely shreds everything short of bosses with a Major Spec Mod on it. In PvP if you don’t know how to push with the recluse it’s just an average SMG.

I don’t think the meta is going anywhere. You will still see endless Luna/Dust Rock/Wardcliff. Except more Recluse thrown in. MAYBE. Recluse will definitely not be the new meta as I see it.
I have both weapons and use each of them based on maps so I know how well they work.
You have hit on the solution (something I have been -blam!- about for over a year now) of why the answer to stale or OP meta is not nerf the gun but to change the maps. Larger open maps cures the HC/Shotgun meta we have now. Make larger open maps, put them in the rotation and the meta will change up. Most of todays maps are built for the HC/shotgun meta. The answer is the Maps. Terrain will always dictate loadouts......not the other way around.
