• Even S-IIs didn't have energy shields until 2552.

 • ODST had 'shields'. Nylund had the Halo Bible and worked close with Bungie to make the books, I believe. Spartan III's had less effective, but cheaper armour. It served them for their style of missions they weren't sent on.
Posted by: Rakata Thing is: Nylund felt like creating Spartan III's without shields. Bungie knows we -blam!- hated ODST without Shields so they gave Noble Team some shields.
•
Posted by: Mentherex Thats kinda sad when you think about it. "Ok, you mission is to go kill yourself." "YES SIR!" Next their going to make Spartans who when they die blow up and have them crash planes into Covie buildings
Wow. Just, wow.

 •
Posted by: jonas116 Yes, Noble team is issued with MJOLNIR armour. But they're a lesser version of, lets say Master Chief. They got lesser shields and health, where he has only shields. If you got Doctor Halsey's diary, try reading it. or play some of the other Halo games.
I have played all halo games except Halo wars. The spartan III thingy just left me unsure about the shields.I know they were cheaper and sent to suicide missions. •
Posted by: Mentherex
Posted by: Colt556 I'll jump on the bandwagon. S3s were mass produced disposable super soldiers, equiping them with shielding was deemed too expensive and unnecessary, since they'd die on their first op anyways. S3s were given the stealth-oriented, semi-powered SPI armor. S3s were made to sneak in, accomplish their mission, and die. S2s were given all the good gear because they were made to last.
Thats kinda sad when you think about it. "Ok, you mission is to go kill yourself." "YES SIR!" Take in a group of 100 orphans, train em for 5 years, give em stealth suits, and you can knock out that covie shipyard.

How is that rude?
Cuz in my opinion it came off rude. You may not think so but thats the beauty of opinions. We can agree to disagree. That and I've been up for over 24hrs. I get confrontational when I'm tired. lol I need a cookie--->(::)

 • There is a good reason that the MJOLNIR armour was not given to every Spartan III that wandered in, and that's because one suit cost slightly more to build, supply, and maintain than a frigate. The MJOLNIR program, at its peak, actually consumed some ~25% of ONI's entire budget, at a time when the UNSC's operational budget was permanently set at all-humanity GDP. The Spartan-III program was, in its entirety, an attempt to capitalise on the successes of the Spartan-II program while keeping the operational expenditure to merely heinous instead of outright absurd. All the other differences in it flowed on from there.

 •
Posted by: unitedstorm No, bungie kinda messed that up. The Spartan III soldiers had armor that was similar to the ODSTs. Only Spartan IIs had shields.
Noble team aren't your average suicude-mission disposable asset Spartan IIIs, they're an elite strike team made up of mainly exceptional Spartan IIIs who were on a par in terms of ability with the Spartan IIs. Survivors from previous classes, and for some reason, Jorge.

 • Spartan-IIIs had SPI (Semi Powered Infiltration armour), it was based off a prototype ODST stealth suit to counter the Covenant's active camouflage systems. SPI did not have shields, Noble Team were assigned MJOLNIR Mark V armour though.

 •
Posted by: McAngusYoung I'm pretty sure all Spartan II and Spartan III soldiers had shields.
Incorrect. Noble Team was issued with MJOLNIR armor due to their being awesome. Other Spartan IIIs used the Semi-Powered Infiltration Armor because they were expendable.

 • They had SPI armour in the books which bungie stated they were not taking their storyline from, so they have shields in the game because thats what bungie decided to do

 •
Posted by: Spinikar Pretty sure they had shields. Be pretty stupid to not incorperate them into SIII's. With that said, they would not be anywhere near as strong as a SII, as they made the SPI as cheap as possible. The SIII were sposed to be desposiable!
Please read above post(s).
