For instance, if any guardians where sepperated from their ghosts during the red war but those ghosts survived and guardians did not, could the ghost revive another person after the the traveler woke up? I know that obviously a ghost could try to re awaken its original guardian. However pointless that would be given that without a connection to the light, i would assume that guardians conscioueneass would be lost? Their memories pre guardian clearly dont completely go away if we look at Shinobu and anther recent character of interest. And yet for some Reason Ikora and Sagira both insist that a guardian who dies without their ghost, is gone.
Looking at the lore we have. The only example I can think of is when Shin inherits Jarens Ghost. That story is obviously a bit tainted at this point but still.
What do you guys think?

4 Replies<Depends on their frequency. Most Guardians and Ghost share a specific type of Light that allows them to bond. It's why Ghost couldn't do anything with Cayde and why you rarely hear about Ghosts resurrecting other people.>

2 RepliesYes, shin malphur was risen in this way

4 RepliesI mean in d1 our ghost said he tried to revive a dead guardian who locked himself in one of the pods in the colony ships in the cosmodrome, so they probably can

There is a Ghost Fragment talking about this. If a Ghost lived and a Guardian died during the Red War, it was possible for the Ghost to resurrect their Guardian as the Light still returned to their Guardian’s body. So really there was no need for a Ghost to trade out Guardians.

Edited by juharr: 4/30/2019 1:02:03 PMThe ghosts revive people that died before the traveler even showed up in the first place so I'm guessing they can revive their guardian if the ghost survived the red war.

20 RepliesAs far as we know, a Ghost can only revive their Guardian. Whoever they end up resurrecting is their partner and that’s it. The only possible exception to this is Shin Malfur (because people assume Jaren Ward’s Ghost bonded with him). But we don’t know everything about the Shin Malfur case. The most likely scenario is that Shin was the child revived in Ghost Stories. This would explain his peculiar case, and also would mean he is a Guardian living his last life since his Ghost is gone. If this is the case, then we will know for fact that Ghosts can only bond to/revive one Guardian. But we have no confirmation of this. Only theories. Ignoring the Shin Malfur case, all evidence points to Ghosts only being capable of bonding with/reviving one Guardian.

3 RepliesShin doesn’t get revived he is chosen by jarens ghost after yor burns down the whole city leaving nobody but shin alive which jarens ghost brings shin TLW and yor let’s shin live in hopes of a duel later on in which shin kills yor So I don’t believe a ghost can revive another guardian if said guardian is not connected with that ghost

Yes jaren ward had a ghost but once jarens light was drained from him by dredgen yor and jarens ghost made shin malphur his new guardian (though shin wasnt resurrected making him the only case of a guardian being made a guardian that wasnt already dead)

6 RepliesDue to the Shin example floating around, it's an apple to apple, pear to pear ghost potential at this point. While all ghosts have the capability of reviving THEIR guardian, certain ghosts operate on a singularity and others on a different kind of singularity. This is what allows Shin to be brought back even though a ghost had already been bonded to another. The Light isn't based on a personality. It's based on singularities which allow for one kind of ghost to revive one kind of guardian out of the various species which ghosts revive the dead already. Take our ghost right now. Say we are suppressed somehow by a darkness entity and cannot be revived by them. But our ghost manages to find another lightbearerer similar to us, but not exactly on the same planet or elsewhere. Per the Shin example? This is a potential reality. Which brings about an interesting dialogue not previously mentioned.

I think it’s possible, just off of the interaction of a guardian killing warlords and telling their ghosts to leave. Just a guess though.
-
I guess Shin´s ghost did.

Problem is Shin was a bit of a special case. He was resurrected, his ghost died and he did not. Jaren was killed permanently due to his light being drained. A unique circumstance.

15 RepliesShins history is thrown into question with the realization that he’s Dredgen vale which puts a huge hole in his background story

That used to be the case, but in what has become a common theme among Destiny's lore it was retconned.

1 ReplyDin't this happen in one of the missions when the other ghost took over in curse of osiris? When your guardian died the osiris ghost resurected us.

They may be able to heal a live one, but they can't revive a dead one

Nope.

1 ReplyI’m not completely into the whole lore thing, but didn’t this happen to Uldren when he got resurrected by pulled pork ghost? I’m pretty sure pulled pork ghost belonged to another guardian. Correct me if I’m wrong. So yeah I think it can work.

We've never had this seen in lore except for the example you gave but im sure its possible. It just depends if the ghost has the want to have a second guardian
