Hello Guardians!
So for this forum I wanted to share some of my thoughts toward the Comp. pinnacle weapons nerf and why this may not be the best route for the future of Destiny. First, let me start with an analogy. You work from 6-9 in an office job, it's hard, your tired, you just want to get it over with, but the pay is alright. You finally save up enough money to buy a red Corvette, and you are super hyped. You got the car and everyone is jealous of you now. You have the Corvette for about a month now, but then the car dealership retracts your new Corvette and replaces it with a Toyota.
Basically, (for me at least) I grinded my absolute hardest trying to get Lunas and I'm sure others did too. Now your telling the hardcore crucible players now that doesn't mean anything, and here's a decent 150 rpm handcannon for getting to fabled and legend? That doesn't make sense to me. I get that people are complaining about the gun, but that gives more incentive to actually get it yourself. For me, I saw a broken gun, and I wanted to get my hands on it. For NF it's even more insane. They got to LEGEND in comp., and now the prize of their hard work is getting turned into a Toyota. Lunas and NF are only strong in the hands of a good player. You need to hit precision shots to make the gun effective at all, and timing your shots right at the right range is super important as well. You can't just spam the gun and pray that it does well. The guns makes you learn how to hit shots, and the grind for the guns teaches more crucible plays and other things. Other players who don't have the gun are so upset because they are usually playing against a good player with Lunas or NF if they are getting destroyed. The gun isn't the problem, sure it helps and it rewards precision, but they are better than you are. Thats how they got the gun, and that's how your getting beaten. Getting these guns is like a journey. You try your best and learn a lot, and then you get the reward for your struggles. Thats what Destiny is all about.
A looter shooter, in its simplified terms is a shooter game that rewards for shooting. So, if someone gets to 5000 glory, they should expect a good reward. This nerf defeats the whole purpose of a looter shooter. If I do something super hard, I should be rewarded as such. I don't deserve a mediocre handcannon.
Please leave your thoughts below, and also give an upvote if you agree with me.
And Bungie. Just don't.

1 ReplyEdited by HK_Mark23_Osprey: 5/2/2019 4:36:50 PMYou got it close to half right. A game, any game should not be like dealing with bullying, “work” in hostile environment, struggle while frustrated trying to achieve extremely difficult goals in real life in the first place. It’s naive to think the highest achievement in a game is “real” because it’s a real life-like goal and process to get it. In real life, when you succeeded/achieved, whatever that reward might be (degree, knowledge, invention, fame, recognition...) is yours. If some dealer can switch your ‘Vette with a Toyota, that only means you “own” it on borrowed money, in other words, it’s not yours! That’s real life.

I am on the fence. I am tired of loading into matches and only seeing the Dust Rock/Luna/Coil load out. That to me is BS when the game is "balanced" in such way that one load out and one load out only is dominant. With this meta in place, I can't even seem to get past Brave rank in Comp to even get a Luna (git gud, I know) On the other hand, it is really crappy that these two guns are being changed the way they are after so much time has been invested into getting them. I feel the change is needed, but Bungie could have just waited and linebacker work to eliminate bloom and adjust hand cannon targeting to be a little more like PC. Seems like console is getting poor treatment in comparison.

Edited by Peter, Kell of Cottontail: 5/2/2019 1:33:21 PMNo matter what opinion is out there.. Money and attachment rates matter more. The guns had more of a negative effect than a positive one. There is not one single destiny player that has not experienced an adjustment of their favorite weapon. The Crucible does not make someone’s time more valuable or important. They should have never entered the game with e advantage it had. It sucks... We all know the feeling. This is bungie and this is destiny. They dangle carrots, then they turn said carrots into a memory. It buffs the 150s.. which is a good thing. The 180rpm meta needs to go. It has been the meta since forsaken dropped. It is reaching its 8th month.. probably the longest meta in all of destiny.

Bungie needs to balance the game. That includes all the gear players “earn”. This has been a long time coming, and it’s good for the game. I know a lot of players are scared because the gun they use to farm easy stats is going to be less easy to use. It will be okay. If you’re a good player then you will be able to do well with any weapon you decide to use come season 7. Until then take your victory lap.

3 RepliesAgreed spit in our faces bungie good luck with d3 when it bombs just as bad as d2 vanilla.

I think people would be happier if they made every other archetype of hc usable on console. On PC, NF is good but definelty not the best (TLW is) and Lunas is hilariously sub par.

You should already know how to time your shots and get precision kills before getting the weapons. Also, in my opinion the pinnacle weapons from any game mode should be used for that game mode only. But I guess that’s too much for players to accept and Bungie to do.

2 RepliesEdited by SamSu916: 4/29/2019 7:00:36 PMPeople think that their time spent on this weapon is more valuable than everyone else who had to put up with fighting against the weapon(I personally don't care all that much though tbh but this isn't about me). Honestly... The only mistake Bungie did here was that they let the weapon be in the state it was in to draw in a bunch of people to get it. Anyone who didn't see a balance change coming a mile away though is on them because it was dead obvious the weapon could not stay in that state forever. I mean logically speaking from a Destiny player's point of view, 0.67 legendary TTK is a a bit much and with the perk active, 0.33 which is way over the top(the 0.33 information credit goes to Fallout Plays for doing the math). One final thing to keep in mind, unless you got it literally days ago, you had months to use the weapon against people who didn't. Your time spent to get something is not forever valuable. You bought that Corvette? Guess what? That Corvette is not going to behave like the day you bought it nor will it stay at the value you bought it.

Why you hate Toyota? they make fantastic quality products. i do enjoy the corvette, but i Also am happy with a nicely tuned Toyota FRS. i only got my Luna Howl very recently and I'm not upset about the change at all. I'm happy for it. it allows for other load outs to shine normally and not be highlighted as the exception to the regular set up. here's the real problem for me with LH. by itself, it's a fine weapon. but let me step it up for you 1. Luna Howl- perfectly fine 2. Luna Howl with DRB- getting a little shady and cheap but hey, I'll try and play around it if i can. 3. Luna Howl, DRB, and Wardcliff Coil- y'all gone full scumlord, you never go full scumlord! 4. A team of 4-6 with Luna Howl, DRB, and Wardcliff Coil- the fun factor has left the building! there's gonna be salt raining down on both sides of No Man's Land! that, to me, is why Luna is being retuned.

I can’t wait for Luna’s/NF to STILL dominate on console because they’ll continue to be the only precision HCs free from bloom/ghost bullets
-
You absolutely deserve a mediocre hand cannon. It’s a lesson in life that no loot in a video game can be guaranteed to be worth anything a few months from now. Either you enjoyed playing to get it or you didn’t. If it was a chore or a job why are you bothering to play?
-
1 ReplyIm with you, I fought my way through NFs and Lunas to get my Lunas howl. I'm not great in comp or pvp, but I dealt with the stresses of the grind and reaped my reward! I felt I deserved it! But I sure the hell dont deserve to have it ruined because a bunch of babies who cry about it.

11 RepliesYour analogy is flawed. I paid good $$$ to play a video game during my free time, not work a job. Destiny 2 was originally advertised as being more causal friendly than Destiny 1. If BUNGIE refunds me in full for going back on their word and advertising, then you can keep all the weapons that you grinded for.
-
Bungie back in D1: We'll never disrespect players play time again! Bungie in D2: We'll disrespect your play time with every update!
-
Bungie wont get anymore of my $$$, it's a constant game of BS.

8 RepliesWell stated. Thank you. But there will be a majority of snowflakes that don’t understand the concept of putting effort in and reaping rewards of effort. They just think they should have the same thing as everyone else even though they clearly don’t deserve it. Socialist mentality is take from me to make someone else not feel left out. In this case take my gun and make it crap so everyone on level playing field. Socialism doesn’t bring the lowest up it brings the highest down. If you want something that looks amazing put in the effort to get it you bunch on nerf herding crybabies.

I'd be fine with a Supra instead of a Corvette.

In a sandbox like this, having the rich get richer by rewarding them objectively better weapons is an easy way to alienate less skilled players, and creating objectively better weapons like that removes choice once whatever remaining players start only using that weapon. Your “Toyota” is still likely to be the best car on consoles even after the changes
