Why on earth do I always see people responding to queries about the towers location say “it’s in Russia”. The justification that they give is usually the same “Oh the wall around the city is the same as the one in old Russia”. No it’s not people. There’s tons of evidence to contradict that fact.
Exhibit 1: Hawthorne and Amanda both say something to the effect of across the pond when talking about the edz. The pond is most commonly used to denote the Atlantic Ocean.
Exhibit 2: the colony lore tab mentions a snek living near the northern part of the wall that only lives in northern South America (I know it’s an oxymoron) up to the Yucatán peninsula.
TL;DR the city isn’t in Russia you dumkopfs

3 RepliesAlso, you see the entirety of the Cosmodrome from Felwinter’s Peak

2 RepliesThe tower is in the northern hemisphere...

13 RepliesBannerfall map location is in old russia It is an old tower on the city wall City is in old russia.
-
2 RepliesI think I remember someone saying it was near Nepal if I remember correctly. That or near the Cape of Hope but I think that was from a movie, 2012 er something.
-
5 RepliesWhat about the sequence in the beginning of D2 after the Tower falls? Don’t we end up in/near the EDZ without a ship?

1 ReplyEdited by MC 077 Lasombra: 4/28/2019 4:23:27 PMI’ve never seen anyone say the Cosmodrome Wall is the City Wall. Just that they are relatively close to one another. Well there has been lots of conflicting information. Zavala walked on foot from Old Russia(where he fought the Fallen, you can see the street signs) across a mountain range and into the valley of the Last City. Ever watch Zavala’s trailer?? Guess what that looks like? The City is near Old Russia. He didn’t walk across the Atlantic. Or how about how Old Russia is the number one place for salvage for the Last City? Even back during the Dark Ages. When there were few, if any, ships? A place no one knew about halfway across the globe... More interestingly was how Felwinter Peak was the base of the Iron Lords. Sworn protectors of Humanity and the Traveler. Based on the other side of the planet... On a mountain range outside the Cosmodrome. Like the one Zavala crossed. The absolute lack of lore of their presence in the Americas? North, Central and South are barely mentioned. Meanwhile... All early Dark Age lore, when locations are mentioned, are in Eurasia and Africa. So it’s actually really puzzling that we aren’t in Eurasia. Since everything indicates we ought to be.

1 ReplyShow me an example of someone saying this, I've never encountered it myself. I feel like you just figured it out and had to post .

18 RepliesEdited by Grays_KS27: 4/28/2019 10:34:25 PMThank you for making this! To clarify for anyone reading this: The Cosmodrome and City are not the same place. Evidence:
1. The Cosmodrome was built during the Golden Age. The City was built during the Dark Ages, and the City Walls were built during the City Age. 2. On several occasions we have been given views of large sections of the Cosmodrome. We also have had several full views of the City. Comparing these views and the areas contained within the City and the Cosmodrome, along with their surroundings, makes it obvious that they are different locations. The separate effects of the Red War and the SIVA Crisis confirm that they are separate locations. 3. After being revived, you have to fly out of the Cosmodrome to go to the City. Our Ghost states that a jumpship was necessary. Had the City been nearby or part of the Cosmodrome, you would have walked there and not gone looking for a ship. 4. Can you see the Traveler from the Cosmodrome? No. As stupid as this evidence seems, I can’t believe I need to say it.
Just because they both have a big wall doesn’t mean they’re the same place. That logic is foolish and heavily flawed. What evidence do we have of where the City actually is:
1. When Eva Levante was staying at the Farm, Tess Everis video-called her. It was deep in the night at the Farm (most likely long after nightfall but long before sunrise), but the sun was up in the Tower. The Farm is located in Europe, so we know the Tower is nowhere near Europe do to this large difference in time zones. https://www.ishtar-collective.net/entries/invisible-scars#book-evas-journey 2. Saraya Hawthorne states that she had to fly “across the pond” to save City refugees during the Red War. The “pond” is the Atlantic Ocean. The Atlantic is specifically the body of water referred to as the “pond” in the use of this slang term (in real-world present-day and past). All other likely bodies of water suggested by other people are proven incorrect by Evidence 1. This means that the City is in the Americas. 3. Amanda Holiday asks you to “jump across the pond” to the European Dead Zone to track the murderer of Master Ives. See Evidence 2. 4. A man died of a terciopelo bite by the northern wall. The terciopelo is a South American snake. https://www.ishtar-collective.net/entries/the-colony?highlight=Northern 5. Amanda Holliday moved South through Panama to reach the City, heading for South America. 6. The early members of the Pilgrim Guard went South to the City. Spreading rumors of the Safe City all only said it was “far South”, a direction so general that it suggests the City was far South and in a location where it would be very hard to miss. This makes the southern end of South America the best candidate. https://www.ishtar-collective.net/entries/question-after-question#book-ecdysis 7. Some people believe that the City is located near the Caspian Sea, because Jagi’s Host was last seen East of the Caspian Sea. This evidence has no backing, because they could have been any distance from the City. This logic would make any location with Guardian activity a possible location (anywhere from Rezyl Azzir in the Tescan Valley of South America to a Guardian in the Manhattan Nuclear Zone to Holborn’s Host on Mars), and is very flawed. To further weaken this theory: the Ghosts from Jagi’s Host returned separately over an extended period of time, suggesting that Jagi’s Host met its demise very far from the City. In addition, Evidence 1 contradicts this theory. https://www.ishtar-collective.net/cards/ghost-fragment-titan?highlight=Jagi 8. The Shard of the Traveler is in the European Dead Zone. How did it get there with all the evidence proving that the Traveler isn’t in Europe? What the heck?!
People who say that clearly don’t remember how in destiny 1 we travel quite a long distance from the cosmodrome to the tower after the first mission.
-
1 ReplyDon’t remember who it was, but someone in Reddit posted a map of where the last city likely was based on geography. It wasn’t Russia.
-
9 RepliesBut the real and ONLY QUESTION IS... Where is the City of Springfield where the Simpsons reside?
-
2 RepliesIf it was Russian, it’d be spelled Kosmodrome. Duh.

5 RepliesBesides. The fallen are in both sides of the wall. So they would’ve already invaded if it was the same wall.

2 Repliesmy mom my dad my grandma said its in bluffton arkansas aint nowere it could be but there

1 ReplyEdited by Pradheon: 4/28/2019 2:28:15 AMLooking at the scenery of the city and the proximity if various landscape features i would say the Last City is in Kaliningrad, Russia. It is relatively close to Europe and the landscape in the maps look relatively close to many areas in Europe. Edit: To clarify Kaliningrad, Russia is in Europe and is not connected to the main country, instead it is like a small colony or province. Look it up in Google Maps or whatever you like to use for Mapping.

1 ReplyThey are issues in this game that require more attention than a wall. This post should be moved to the 'Trump' section where you can talk about walls all you want
-
3 RepliesIts trumps wall, so right along the Mexican border with the u.s.
-
6 RepliesCaspian Sea, -blam!-. Also black sea, -blam!-. It's likely in southern Russia/Kazakhstan.

Edited by Oddish43: 4/27/2019 11:34:22 PMExhibit 3: When your Ghost finds you in Russia, you have to find a ship. And, there's an extended ship flight sequence in the animation. If the City was right next to the cosmodrome, you wouldn't need a ship to get home, they could just whistle up a van or something. EDIT: I think that the City is somewhere in the Andes. Bogota in Colombia, La Paz in Bolivia, and Santiago in Chile are all possibilities. EDIT 2: According to the wiki on terciopelo habitat, it could be in Cantral America or northern South America. It's a mountain city, so it should be in a place where the snakes typically live at high altitudes. This suggests Venezuela or Colombia. An area where the snakes seem to be extra prevalent is the juncture of Central and South America. The city of Medallin, Colombia is located there. So, another possibility (and only a possibility).

1 Replythe city is in south america right? that always seems to be where we enter the atmosphere.

1 ReplyThe city is in North America. When Amanda tells you to hop across the pond to the Cosmodrome in the Thunderlord quest she is referring to crossing the Atlantic from North America to Europe. There is no discussion, it's canon, the city is in North America.
-
Considering in D1 you can travel straight through the wall but need to get a ship to get to the city... obviously.

1 ReplyWasn't it confirmed by bungie that the city is in Chile?
