It's a fine line between "viable" for auto rifles and "spray and pray" meta.
Personally I think autos are a junk weapon type and should never be as rewarding to use as a scout, pulse or hand cannon.

They are never going to be as rewarding, Auto Rifles are the generic FPS weapon, but they should be usable as a bare minimum.
