So to elaborate on the title, there's quite a few franchises out there, from Platinum Games and Bayonette, Sony's God of war, and Ubisoft re-inventing Assassin's Creed. Nintendo alone has quite a number of franchises under their belt!
But let's say for the fun of it, someone decided to loan off their IP to another company, whether for a spin off title, or a permanent change of hands
It seems every company has their own flair to their games, like if you get something made by Gearbox, say the Borderlands series, it's probably going to have a wacky cast and not take itself too seriously, Bungie will probably be pretty lore heavy, and Nintendo will probably be light hearted (until you look past the surface of some of the games...).
So anyways, back to the question. What franchises would you like to see another company take a crack at?
My answer: So it's no secret EA has yet to do justice to the Star Wars franchise. Maybe the new one by respawn might be a winner but I just don't know. So I'd like to see someone like Platinum Games make a Jedi themed hack and slash style game. I feel like they could probably do lightsaber combat justice. Kind of curious how they would handle the force. Probably would be a lot like The Force Unleashed though a little flashier.
Alternatively, it would be kind of cool to have a for Honor style Jedi Vs Sith game.

Let's give FFVIIR to From Software

Edited by Realsvi: 4/24/2019 4:17:12 AMI think Syphon Filter should be given to kojima to do his take on it since MGS is dead thanks to konami. Legacy of Kain should be given to FromSoft to let them do their magic on.

Maybe this is stupid but I think a fromsoftware Zelda game could be really cool.
-
A Bendy game done by Frictional Games. Now that would be even more terrifying.
-
I would like to see a Lord of the Rings game done by Bethesda. That would be cool.
Bethesda technically has done this with the Fallout series
-
It’s gonna be by respawn?! *hype increases*

Baldur’s Gate series by Bethesda. Skyrim styled. A old but brilliant game, one of the best, made with newer graphics and elder scrolls style. Just how would Bethesda handle 2nd edition d&d rules. Oh and one more thing. A game remade by bungie with countless hidden lore and a deep hiden story. The lore based game i want is.....
Pong
Infinity ward with halo sounds good

Let obsidian take a crack at Borderlands

Edited by Rhynerd: 4/21/2019 5:55:47 AMAn early thought was “which team develops the Valkyria Chronicles series?” So far my research indicates Sega did it with a dev team they have and maybe some other teams assisting. I guess I’d like to see what those groups (or at least the prominent one) could do with the Synidcate license, because I’d be curious if it would be grittier cyberpunk version of the Infinity game by Corvus Belli (which is a tabletop game) or something else set in a syndicate-fitting universe. Anyways, now for some simpler ideas: -From Software to be given the Fallen London Franchise to work with (which can include the Sunless Skies future) -Dontnod to be given the Endless franchise -Splash Damage to get the Blacklight franchise

Honestly I’d love to see Ubisoft get the opportunity to work on a grand theft auto campaign. I think they’d add a good level of energy back into the game itself. Ubisoft has been really good with character development and world design. They may not be the best however they’ve been growing year over year and I think it’d be a twist that would shake up gaming completely.

I kind of want to see Need for Speed/Burnout done by Playground Games. IDK, have then go full on arcade racing as opposed to the Sim(cade) racing that is the Forza games. It would be fun, I'd imagine.

Maybe this doesn't count, since it's still within Nintendo, but I want Retro to make the next 2D Mario game. Their work on Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze was nothing short of masterful, and their focus on visual design, physics-based platforms and exploration would be just the shakeup Mario needs. And if that doesn't count, I want a brand new 2D Metroid game - and I don't care who makes it! (As long as it's good...)
-
Maybe something like Monolith Productions picking up Dead Space?
Somebody give us Dead Space back... Please...
-
I’d like to see FromSoftware do a Mario game. Where it takes Mario 15 hours and hundreds of deaths to slog through a level only to be crushed by Bowser in 5 seconds flat.
-
Dead space with Microsoft as remastered. Wait never mind it won’t make out of development due to worker heart attacks or something.
-
Well, anyone that isn’t EA or Activison handling Titanfall and Star Wars would be welcome

Edited by EnthusiasticRobot: 4/21/2019 2:36:52 AMGet Skylanders a restraining order to save it from Activision’s abuse. Edit: Give it to Team Cherry.

I'd like someone else have the rights to the SAO games instead of Bandai. Maybe give it to Atlas. At least they'd actually put dedication into making it.

One thing I can say for sure, whatever franchise I choose, I want them to hand it off to Lab Zero for a fighting game spinoff. Considering they made the best fighting game out there (imo) as an indie studio, I’d love to see what they could do with a bigger studio backing them. But what? Legend of Zelda could be fun, and getting a decent roster would be easy. Part of me wants to say Kirby, but as much as I’d love it I don’t think Kirby’s cut out for a fighting game. Hm.. Could probably think of something else if I really tried, but that’s what I got off the top of my head.
