In pve, 600 rpm autos do roughly 2.7x damage on a headshot against minors.
This is a really high crit multiplier for a weapon that is so sporadic with its recoil.
I think it should be around a 1.8x multiplier as a lot of autos already struggle with hitting their highest potential damage.
This still favors crit, but it makes it significantly less punishing to be using a less accurate auto rifle.
If bungie wants to keep the multipliers a bit higher, scale it for the weapons.
450s and 360s should have the highest crit multiplier while 600s and 720s are more lenient to bodyshots.
In crucible, autos have the fastest bodyshot ttk, but their optimal ttk is sometimes difficult to reach because it requires so many headshots to obtain it.
Autos like the 360s and 720s that aren't the most stable of the bunch, have some of the most demanding requirements for their ttk.
According to a ttk chart for auto rifles:
360s require 5 crit and 1 body to achieve a 0.83 ttk.
720s require 9 crit and 2 body to achieve a 0.83 ttk.
600s require all crits (9 headshots) to achieve a .80 ttk.
450s require 6 crit and 2 body to achieve a body shots.
Keep in mind these tests are taken against 9 resilience guardians to find their most consistent numbers, so they can obviously shift.
(If need be, the numbers I provide below can change and I can edit them...it would just be a pain in the ass XD.)
The numbers aren't bad for ttk, but it's incredibly difficult to ever reach those ttk numbers because of things like flinch and recoil.
Since they aren't burst or single shot weapons, they handle these types of things very very poorly and it's not unreasonable to make the ratio a bit less demanding for crits.
So I think it should go like this:
360s, 4 crit 2 body.
720s, 7 crit 4 body.
600s, 7 crit 2 body.
450s, 5 crit 3 body.
This would make them significantly more viable, even with their recoil, for crucible while not changing their fastest potential ttk.
I'm not asking they reduce headshot damage itself, just increase the bodyshot multiplier but reduce headshot to make it more lenient for non-crits.
600s do 22 to head and 14 body.
Tweak it to like 22 head and 18 body.
This sounds like a lot, but it only barely kills 4 resilience and below guardians in 7 crit and 2 body.
This is reasonable...i think.
