Snipers should penetrate shields to do crit damage.
Like, seriously, why do they not? They have shit damage if you aren't hitting crits, and enemies have shields that prevent you from hitting crits. They're the most useless waste of special ammo in the game right now.
Edit: Obviously Exotic snipers don't count, yes I know you can break a shield with Borealis. I'm talking about non exotic snipers. And before you say "Just match the element type lol," a non matching element shotgun can break shield much more effectively than a matching element sniper. Snipers have very low damage on non critical hits.

Yep, thats why I tend to favour kinetic snipers now. Absolute rubbish for knocking off shields.

1 ReplyWasn’t this the case in D1? At least when you matched the element. Don’t use snipers in D2 outside of Whisper for boss damage, so wouldn’t know if it’s still the case when matching the energy.

I’ve been saying energy snipers are useless for awhile. They either need more damage to shields or the ability to penetrate as you say.
