Spin Weapons While Inspecting

I know this is probably going to sound like a weird request, and I am well aware there are more pressing issues that need to be attended to... BUT We can rotate our armour, ghost shells and sparrows while inspecting them, can we please have the ability to rotate our weapons and ships too? I feel like this is something we should have been able to do since D1 when they added the ability to rotate armour. Bungie pls respond.

  • All the guns look identical from both sides (something you can't say for armor). I guess that's why they never felt the need to add a rotation feature for the guns.

      Why does stuff like this get to the top of list yet. Meaningful buffs/nerfs are buried to the problem get lost in the maelstrom of toxicity? Im all for this TINY QoL change But Thundercrash needs looking at. Tether impact damage needs looking in to Raidenstriders insta-clap needs looking into Infusion cores need a PROPER looking into. Priorities?

      • If you pull up the 3d model on the app you can spin it, but yeah we should be able to do it in the game too.

Some of the complexity comes from how to handle the camera composition for all archetypes, and having a perceptually logical rotation origin, given that most weapon origins are defined near their handle. We have to figure out something a bit more novel to measure the logical center of the bounding area the weapon, but making sure to not include extraneous geometry like transparent cards that could wildly throw off the newly-calculated point. An alternative would be to have artists simply provide the point of rotation, but that means going back through thousands of weapons already made to author and test across all platforms/SKUs, and adding another step into the costs of building all future weapons.Beyond this there is polished behavior with smoothly fading out effects that were authored based on the original composition like depth of field, while still providing a UX to reset the item back to its original state without awkwardly backout out and back in to the screen. It's definitely not out of the question, and it's something we talked about again while working on the Sparrow rotation. But the work is beyond the scope of clicking a CheckBox, given the less-obvious assumptions that can't be made with weapons compared to things like armor or sparrows that have have more predictability to feed the machinery of the code.             • I've been thinking the same thing for awhile now. On a side note, you can inspect anything for any class now. Check out the arc emotes on different classes for a quick laugh.

              • I wish they would implement this and also the tracker on each master work weapon would actually track even if its not on the selected element. Like crucible or pve tracker.

                  • Although this is an interesting thing we have to understand that whether we wanted it or not, we've stepped into a war with the Cabal on Mars. So let's get to taking out their command, one by one. Valus Ta'aurc. From what I can gather, he commands the Siege Dancers from an Imperial Land Tank just outside of Rubicon. He's well protected, but with the right team, we can punch through those defenses, take this beast out, and break their grip on Freehold.

                  • I agree. I've always tried to inspect my weapons like my armor... it sucks we can't rotate the weapons. It sounds silly but it's true.
