Can we go back to this and eliminate the enhancement cores?
Then, we get a masterworked version after, say, 2000 kills?
For armor, the same: after x kills while wearing, it masterworks?
Edit: for those who dissent, don't you have any fond early memories of leveling up your first legendary or exotic, and feeling the power that came with each step of the process? For me, it was the Aries Nemesis x4 and the MIDA. Just remember that feeling you had when you finally unlocked the wolfpack rounds on your gjally :)
EDIT 2: folks have brought up great points about how it took effort to gain the planetary materials needed to upgrade the weapon (which I totally forget about), but wouldn't Bungie consider something like this to be "meaningful and impactful progression?"

10 RepliesEdited by Alkanphell: 4/15/2019 1:02:36 PMYou're welcome to your opinions I suppose. But my opinion is: That model was horrendous and was removed for a reason. You play months to finally rng that sick exotic you wanted and now after grinding hours and hours, and finally getting it, you get to grind hours and hours more to actually use it as intended? You can keep that shit. One of the single worst aspects of vanilla d1. Or maybe you're talking about cashing in bounties with said pieces equipped? Which is no different than doing bounties for cores. Which apparently everyone finds unacceptable and downright insulting. Lmao. No winning.

2 RepliesNo thanks, I had no care for that system, it just simply felt like a waste of time, every time. New weapon, how cool, to bad I can't effectively use it right away, making it initially worthless, because it doesn't even have basic perks. It felt tedious, and felt like a waste of resources, not to mention time. And no I had no fond memories of doing non stop boring kill patrols just so I could finally use the weapon in a fun activity like raids. Now a system where you get a weapon and use it in order to get it up to a higher light level, that could be an interesting system. You could still have powerful drops, it would just be gear that you don't have to use a ton to upgrade. It could also be a two tiered system, where you could either pay resources to quickly get the item up to speed if you don't want to spend the time, or you could basically use time as your currency. This way if you find a weapon that has a really good roll but don't have the resources to upgrade it just yet, you would at least have an alternative solution.

Yea but then you have a billion motes of light and lvl it up with those instead

Having to unlock perks sucked.

1 ReplyRemember remember, the 9 of november...
-
1 ReplyDon’t give them ideas - soon it will cost enhancement cores just to unlock the perks.
-
hell yeah- back when things made sense.

1 ReplyYes I remember that and when we was able to replay each story when we want. For upgrade my weapons I just do the weekly story and pvp and the strike to get the everversum rewards. Then some patrols and events that give better rewards and raid with good armors look and perks for help me and my team. And I remember strike with exclusive rewards to get or the events like the SRL events and All weapons we was able to buy at the tower with random perks... Or the great pvp mode and we can choose the mode we wants and the big maps with turrets... I can say so many other good thing but it will be too long. Sorry for english

1 ReplyScrew the kills, remember when you had to use shards to upgrade the damage numbers and bungie were really stingey on how to get the shards.
-
No thank you. I like getting a gun/armour that I’ll use and masterworking it immediately

Edited by SilentShinobii': 4/16/2019 12:23:00 AMD2 system better tbh. Since even if I weren't to use things like testlo or wardclif atleast if i do i can use it staright away. With D1 it just meant mediocre exotics got thrown away in vault or instantly upgraded with the 100000+ motes. Or the only way to avoid the instant upgrade would be to implament this system back at the very start of D3. If anything do this but with pinnacle PvP weapons, this way nobody can complain that they aint got lunas/ NF. And make the reach fable etc part what masterworks them. This way you can bait out all the kids who use guns as an excuse to why they cant win ez clap.

You need some member berries
-
You mean blow a bunch of motes of light?
-
No. That's a horrible idea.
-
1 ReplyI do. Those were the good old days. Now, it's all about the streamers (who should get real jobs) and tryhard no-life gamers.
-
Oh don’t remind me of those days ...... when you had to use bounty’s with very small amounts of xp and in game currency for rewards just to unlock anything. I think that the setup that we got now is good enough we don’t need to go back to the bad old days of destiny do we?

I remember playing all weekend on all 3 guardians just to finish unlocking all the nodes on my Gjallerhorn.

1 ReplyEdited by MrMac: 4/15/2019 6:07:37 PMWhat I like about D2 system is you don't have to wait to max out a weapon to unlock its other perks to know how good or bad it is. Imagine if you spent all that time maxing out a weapon and then it turns out to be a dud? Yeah. No. I'd rather have all the weapon perks unlocked immediately so I'll know whether to masterwork it or not. The only single thing I'd change today is to remove enhancement cores for infusion. I liked it better when you just had to spend 10 cores to masterwork it. Also, it would be great if I was able to choose which perk to improve on, and not rely on RNG. Today's masterwork system is too expensive and you don't even get to choose which park to masterwork. If I want stability, then I should be able to choose or change it and masterwork the weapon based on that. There are a lot of things wrong about this game. The most glaring one is that Bungie has taken choice out of the equation. It just goes to show that Bungie wants us to play the game the way they want us to play it. Why do you think our guardians don't have any voice?
-
I liked the old D1 method. I remember getting Ghorn, running every bounty I could get, then doing patrols and public events just to get the perks unlocked. That was a fun grind.
-
No, I don't. I have fond memories of using motes of light to level up guns without using them though. Everything feel like an exploit before that. Holding your bounties until you had all the right guns and armor equipped. Being pushed off you cashed in a bounty and forgot to change your gun. No thanks.
-
Lot of people don't seem to be very fond of that old D1 system
-
This was one of the first things that really annoyed me with vanilla D2. I liked to unlock the perks with guns, you got to know the feel of the gun/ armour a lot better.
-
2 RepliesDefinitely need to bring that back. I think you would see more variety in the weapons used if you had to use them to make them more powerful!
-
I never liked leveling my weapons. It was just a waste of time. I already grind enough garbage as it is, the last thing I'd want is more of that ceaseless unnecessary grind.
-
Remember when we would use motes to get around having to use it first
