Can we get a Group Finder and Raid Finder in game?

Match making is only for normal strikes and on any pvp. While raids and nightfall you have to find people. Nothing wrong with that though personalty I think nightfall should go matchmaking but the issue is you have to go off game just to come to this site or some community one then put them in your friends list before you can invite them. Then you have to form the party in your playstation party section rather then in game. I been wanting to do raids since D1 but never could because of all this ring around. I mean if you look at other mmos they have looking for groups/raids in game so why is it so hard to put one in game and not have to do this bit of forcing players to add people in their freinds list and making a party outside of the game before able to form one in game (I hope this make sense to all of you.)? Or am I wrong to say something like this? I know I'm not the only player that feels this way so I hope anyone else that reads this will give this some sopport.

  • You’ve got one it’s called Xbox LFG. Hit your xbutton then go to look for group (LFG)... just saying. Works fine for me.

  • For the raid it would NEVER work. I play FF14. FF14 has matchmaking for everything, including their hardest raid content. And I'm here to tell you if you matchmake into it 9.99999 times out of 10 you'll never finish. Because it lumps the "I've done this 100 times I just want my clear" people with the "What does this mechanic do? Whoops, I wiped the raid" people. And that's in an MMO setting where you've got (generally speaking) more mature players and a built in chat box. Trying to do that in a game where you have the exact opposite? Forget about it. For the nightfall though it absolutely should have matchmaking. They're not even challenging anymore.

I may be in minority here but I think guided games are best solution that Bungie can come up with. Why? You need to consider few things Finding 6 players who are willing spend 1-2 h doing raid (with failures) and without "I need to go" is not so easy , I understand there is life and things can't wait and ppl went away from usual raids in D1 that is how it is. Finding ppl with mic properly set up is not so common, Finding ppl speaking English /common language is not so easy, yes many ppl speaks other languages but explaining to someone where is nearest bus station or shop is way easier than explaining some techniques in raid. That is why I think guided games are the best way to implement matchmaking for top pve activities ( aswell pvp, same things apply) Having group of 5 or 2 players ready to help one guy is far better than matchmake randoms together ( + when you MM there are all rules pointed out on screen) Just to add up I've used guided games in Y1 , I've made few NF and I found one group which helped me get through Levi normal, they didn't request from me discord or a mic, dude was speaking very ok English and was patient enough to explain me most of mechanics and I've got HC and sniper all what I wanted. Honestly I think guided games are great idea and I don't know why more ppl do not use it, meaby having random person instead of friend I don't know? Edit I see you asking about group finder, that could work but having already systems outside the game I don't think Bungie would put resources into that but maybe in D3 that will be an option.

  • I think there should be a board or something in the tower where you can make and join raid groups who can make specifications in terms of power, but only power. The thing is that if bungie do something in terms of endgame content, they want it available to everyone. Making specifications about class, power, completions and whatnot separate the player base, which is why they chose to make guided games instead.

    • This is the single most drawn out dead end gripe of all time in destiny, look man....there's a LFG on here, there's an LFG on your XBOX (very easy to use/post), there's like 15 different LFG's not counting facebook groups where you can find people just like yourself to do activities. It's really simple !

      • Yeah, an in-game version of the fireteam section would be a nice addition to the tower. Once you post it, you can check the ones you have joined on the pause menu or something

      • Speaking from my experience in WoW, organized difficult content is not something you want matchmaking for. LFG, sure, but a simple queue-up matchmaking would not work as Destiny's raid content currently stands. Even if it did exist, I wouldn't do it, because I've seen videos of how Destiny 2's raid mechanics tend to work, and it's not something I could do. Too much stimuli, way too many things going on at once, screen shake and flashing colors with flipping and jumping in abundance, which tends to make me get "overloaded" and just "shut down" in a way. WoW's raids can get like that, but the work load is spread across up to 30 players, so there's a lot less weight on one individual's actions. As far as I know, there is no "easy" or at least "easier" difficulty to any of Destiny 2's raids. In WoW, which does have a queueable LFR, the LFR difficult cuts out many of the difficult mechanics, and is intended for solo players who cannot be expected to get into or organize a group themselves. Likewise, it drops the lowest quality of raid loot. Because light level is so meaningless in D2, dropping lower quality versions of raid loot simply wouldn't work unless they removed the loot entirely. If that were so, then nobody would do it. I would not mind a way to see the story content in raids. I often feel left out of the loop. Destiny 2 already does a poor job of actually telling the story as-is; having no clue what goes on or is said in a raid doesn't help. The Destiny setting is very rich, but very little of it is actually seen in-game. I get the whole "show, don't tell", but Destiny 2 often feels like watching a nature documentary with no narrator.

We actually don't have to add people to our friendlist to invite them to the in-game fireteam now. Done that. Can tell.

        • Okay so, I'm reading one thing but my gut is telling me something different, are your really trying to hint at matchmaking for raid? because if you are that's a horrible idea for both casual and the hard core and a colossal waste of time, we already have lfg's for this game, we have lfg's on top of lfg's. What I'm getting from your post is, you don't want to put work in finding a team yourself you want the game to do it for you. So I'll let you know what will happen a lot if that was the case, you would get jackasses like me and my fire team who would que up 5 just to troll that 1, no fun you but tons of fun for us.

            • The general population in D2 don't understand the raids and don't know how raid encounters work. If you're an experienced solo player looking to get a raid done, you would never turn to the in-game LFG if there was one. You'd go to places where you can find other experienced players who know what they're doing. And for those who will probably reply to this saying "How can you expect people to learn the raid if nobody teaches them?" - Not everyone has the time to teach raids, some people have other commitments and have a limited amount of time that they wouldn't want to spend teaching the raid instead of getting it done. Its selfish, but it is what it is. That's why raid sherpas are a thing, you just have to find someone willing.

            • Yeah, i don't get why there isn't a board in-game with that stuff. When there's so many issues with the app and all the nonsense and how little the fireteams section updates without having to close and re-open the app, I'd rather have an in-game option like Monster Hunter: World that isn't just the meh raid and nightfall nonsense they've done that no one uses.

            • Matchmaking has already shown to be a failure in failable aftivities. The average iq of the destiny community is unbelievably low. Reckoning alone shows how stupid ppl can be. Re-qeueing endlessly till u find ppl not using bows or trash classes. There's NO point for it.
