To fix the infusion problem.
But it would BREAK Masterworking.
Which is why the link between the two needs to be SEVERED, rather than Bungie constantly covering up the problems with spit and duct tape.
Im begining to think that the devs had coded themselves so far into a corner it would literally break everything if they simply removed it and that it will take months of work to rebuild everything post Forsaken (including Forsaken) to remove cores from infusion.
See Double Primaries. Took bungo a year to fix it.
Either that or they are too prideful to admit they hecked up making this a key point in leveling to the point it drives players away...
Then simply be honest about it.
Like they were with Titan-skating on PC. They took a long time to fix it because they didn't want to break the Titan jump in the process.
It you can't take them out....then simply tell us....and then adjust the economy accordingly. The issue isn't that cores are part of the economy. The issue is that they are DELIBERATELY under-supplying the game with them. In order to restrict a mundane game function that every other game on the market allows you to freely utilize.
If I had ANY sense that Bungie was willing to work with us to really fix this problem, I'd still be actively playing and just dealing with a situation until a long-term solution landed.
But we don't have a dev team that is in any way interested in a respectful or mutual relationship with the community on this.
They have addressed us on this issue twice....and their arrogance is shocking....and their tone-deafness is rather pitiful.
Because all we get is our intelligence insulted. As if the only reason we don't like their system is because we just don't UNDERSTAND IT. (Its like dealing with an obnoxious 12 year old).
So we get Masterwork cores renamed to "enhancement" cores....and repeated lectures on their "design goals".
They stubbornly refuse to accept that we UNDERSTAND the system. WE JUST DON'T LIKE THE EFFECT IT HAS ON THE GAME. BECAUSE THE IDEA AT THE ROOT OF IT WAS BADLY MISGUIDED, AND SHOWED EITHER IGNORANCE OR A LACK OF RESPECT FOR HOW LOOT-BASED GAMES WORK.
Levelling up in a loot-game is NOT "impactful". In fact its one of the most MUNDANE acts in the entire game.
No.
Because—unless they make that source FREELY FARMABLE—-it is not a fix. Because it still breaks the connection between player time investment and the ability to construct builds.
The fact that they are just substituting one kind of bounty for another means they still intend to under supply the game, and restrict our access to
infusion.
IOW, they aren’t interested in fixing the problem. Just getting us to tolerate it and accept this as the new normal.
Not.
Going.
To happen.
