They need removed from infusion most definitely. Adding more sources would alleviate the problem of their scarcity and impact on infusion, but creates other problems.
Bungie is actually confused on how their own progression system works. It's a little embarrassing really. The current system is set up so that gear score has zero bearing on actual strength. When we infuse our gear it isn't impactful at all because of this.
There are two types of progression found in this game. Let's call them "more strong" and "less weak".
"More strong" is when you increase a stat, value, or the ability of your gear to become more powerful. Masterworking gear and mods belong to this system. These decisions are impactful. This is a true endgame grind.
"Less weak" on the other hand is when you pass a certain threshold so that you're capable of effectively doing certain activities. Infusion and gaining levels(why do we even have levels anymore) are examples of this. Because of nature of our gear score not providing us real power infusion is not impactful. Grind and chase are important because they give you more reasons to play, but the overall number is irrelevant.
So increasing the sources for cores eases up the grind for real endgame content, establishing builds and fleshing out characters. This creates a new problem. The only real solution is to remove cores from infusion. The cost without cores is actually high enough that's it's sustainable without them anyway.

Incorrect. "More strong" is endgame stuff; min/maxing and whatnot. "Less weak" is leveling. Infusion is a midgame activity, not an endgame activity. Cores are an endgame currency being used for a midgame grind.

Edited by TJ_Dot: 4/9/2019 1:24:23 AM*shurg* eh whatever suits you. That's just kinda the way I see it. Cores being endgame in basic/midgame = bad: Yes.
