You sound just like my brother. If anything, mention it to the person if it bothers you, if they don't stop (believing!), hold on to your feelings and just leave. But in all seriousness some people don't realize they are loud eaters and need to be reminded to close their mouth or take smaller sips of their drink so as not to audibly gulp liquid.
But if you were to ask me. I really don't care, I hear my food crunch and my drink gulp every time I eat or drink. If you can't hear yourself when doing so, and are not hard of hearing, how are you able to ignore your own chewing or drinking to the point where it nauseates you now to hear it when others do so?

Edited by Shadowjack: 4/8/2019 11:05:57 PMMaking people listen to you chow down on food is just plain -blam!-ing rude. Not to sound like a get off my lawn person, but when the -blam!- did people stop learning common courtesy?

I ask nicely, if they don't listen then it's farewell. That being said, I never once said that my own chewing doesn't bother me, it does, I just try not to inflict it on others. I chew quietly, but still, it's common courtesy.

Bothers you how? I have a pretty bad gag reflex myself, when it comes to certain things, but these kinds of things never bothered me so I guess I'm just trying to find understanding. Hot mics and echo feedback get me I can't stand that.

I find squelching and smacking noises extremely unpleasant. Crunching even more so. I feel it in my whole body, the sound that is. You know how people cringe when they hear nails on a chalk board? Same deal, and it fills me with rage. Most people find it annoying. It's down right painful for me.
