Not whining, just looking for an actual explanation to this. I switched to PC recently and good lord, I dont think I can ever come back. All guns on console kick like a bronco! Is there a technical reason for this? I understand that recoil control with a mouse is easier but why havent they adjusted controller recoil to match that?
Again, not trying to complain I'm just curious.
EDIT: I UNDERSTAND THAT RECOIL IS EASIER TO CONTROL WITH MOUSE, WHAT I AM ASKING IS WHY BUNGIE DOESN'T COMPENSATE RECOIL FOR CONTROLLERS TO MATCH THE STABILITY POSSIBLE ON PC.

2 RepliesI should have known better than to expect a well thought out answer from the Destiny community lol. You guys never cease to amaze me with your needless toxicity.

Destiny plays really, really, really bad on console lol. From the molasses movement speed, to the frame rate, to the bloom, to the huge disparity in weapon accuracy, it’s seriously like a different game.

I've been saying this about recoil on console for some time now. I believe it's the main reason why so many people in the Crucible use 180 hand cannons in oppose to 140/150 archetype hand cannons. One way Bungie can help to counter Luna's Howl and Not Forgotten on console is to reduce recoil for 140/150 hand cannons. I really believe this is the solution instead of nerfing Luna's Howl and Not Forgotten.

1 ReplyGet a mouse for your console???

If you think of the range of motion of a controller vs a mouse, there is a stark difference. In one instance, you're using just your thumb in a 40mm space vs using your fingers / wrist / arm with a mouse in a 200mm space (values are for explanation purposes only) it's a lot easier to make micro adjustments in a larger space.

1 ReplyWe console players can control recoil with our thumb stick. We can pull it down and keep it down. This controls recoil. PC players have to move the mouse. There’s a limit to how far they can move the mouse before it falls of the desk. Therefore it makes sense to reduce their recoil in light of this.
-
They’d have to change the recoil to be like CS if they wanted high recoil. If you had infinitely climbing recoil on m&k you’d very quickly run out of mousemat.

You could plug in your console controller on the PC and give it a try. Does recoil behave the same way as it did on console ? -

Because consoles are trash

3 RepliesEdited by sister-hawk: 4/5/2019 1:20:28 PMIn a vidoc they explained that “it feels good to have to pull down on the thumbstick to adjust for the recoil on a controller.” Which is absolute nonsense and I don’t know who the hell gave them the idea that constantly having to fight against your own gun makes for a good experience. I desperately wish they would reduce the recoil on guns to be mostly cosmetic. Battling random recoil a good shooter does not make. And for the record, most people in this thread have no idea what they are talking about. This has absolutely nothing to do with FoV, or enemy health pools, or frame rate, or aim assist, or the PS4 magically making the game bad. The explanation literally is just because Bungie thinks it’s better. Why do they think it’s better? Now that’s a matter we can only speculate on.

1 ReplyBecause console has hella aim assist
-
10 RepliesEdited by Smough: 4/5/2019 8:33:17 PMTo compensate for the high aim assist when using controllers. It’s also not a pc/console issue, if you’re on pc using a controller still gives you more recoil.
-
9 RepliesNo, the issue is there is no recoil on pc. It's a false representation of the game.
-
It's not so much that consoles have high recoil, it's more so that PC has extremely low recoil. If they're going to do anything to recoil, it should be an increase to it on PC.
-
They didn’t in D1.

7 RepliesI am really thinking of moving to PC when D3 comes out. I think I would enjoy the overall game play more. My only concern is about active players. Most PC players seem like the type that abandon game fast. I seriously doubt that if D1 was on PC that people would still be on playing. I could load up D1 and there are players still to be found
-
There is no aim assist to help players on pc keep there aim on track like there is on console, so the recoil is considerably less on pc

OK, so I watched a few videos and see that it is definitely a thing. This isn't perception, there is enough comparison out there to show it really happens. So why? Why would you give a game that actually has more control with a mouse less recoil? Perception is my guess. If you should a full clip from a long winded gun with a mouse you'll have drug down the mouse so far you're off the table. A console controller can move in a direction infinitely. Beyond that, I dunno. It would come down to trying to get more people over to the PC or some other tinfoil hat conspiracy.

Edited by XCptCronchX: 4/5/2019 1:46:32 PMGit Gud. Nah jk I agree. Some guns are just unusable to me because I’m not good enough to control the recoil. The last word is a monster on PC but I really don’t use it on my console because it’s just too wild for me. Some people can get it down but I just can’t. It’s fine though I just use other options, however I would love to be able to actually use it. Guess I’ve gotta get gud.

In D1 my Doctrine of Passing didn't roll it persistence, so I controlled that bronco. Same with Pocket Infinity

6 RepliesHold autorifle to aim at wall and pull trigger. Gun recoils aim by an inch. But on console, the "less skilled" players deal with the recoil of a thousand crickets humping your elbows. If PC players were any good they'd have the same recoil as console and do fine, but they dont, and cant ever be as comparatively skilled as a console player.
I get 10$ per triggered PC player.
