I have come to the realization there isn’t really much incentive in the game currently to win in Gambit Prime.
There are 4 roles that each have incentives attached to them. Either to get a chance for a weapon drop or for the Helmet/Synth Bounties.
Collector: Collect 50 motes for a chance at the Hand Cannon or collect motes for the Bounty. You can collect more motes if you allow motes to be drained or you’re your teammates to die holding motes. Also it is easier to keep and collect when the opposing team has summed the Primeval as they invade less.
Reaper: Kill lots of stuff. The longer the match is the more to kill.
Invader: The longer the match the more invasions you can do. No need to help melt the boss when pushing it to another phase gives you 1 or 2 more invasions.
Sentry: The more damage phases the more wizards to kill. (this one actually has more incentive to win than the others because killing the Primeval counts).
And then there is winning for points to reset when you are high enough that you no longer gain points some of them you don’t even need to play Gambit to complete.
I really like the armour sets that define rolls but find the incentives attached to them mean your team is actually working against each other especially in solo queue.
Maybe there should be a guaranteed weapon/armor drop on a win or at least a chance when you win. Or a selection of bounties that guarantee a random rolled weapon when you complete a set number of wins.
Too often I am in solo queue and we are stomping the other team only to find my teammates slow the pace down for a few more invasions or kills etc.

I have no reason to win a game of Uno either, that doesn’t mean I’m not gonna beat everyone’s asses at it
-
We need to be bribed to try and win a competitive game mode now?
-
You can get the weapons from reckoning and they're increasing the drop rates as well, tho that's next week

4 RepliesPro tip...you dont need to bank 50 motes to get a chance at the handcannon. Banking a giant(20) blocker also gives a chance. So get yourself that white snake armor and grind that HC.

Are there any incentives to just play Gambit/Prime if you don't need milestone "participation" rewards, or specific loot (such as Breakneck or new armour), if you don't like the mode itself? And if you do need those items, the only incentive to actually win is mandatory rank reset, as you can't get to the top of Legend without winning. Well, technically you can - just grind the hell out of bounties but it'll be very long war on attrition. I don't even want to begin thinking on approximation and calculation.:) Colour me weird, but I have no interest in delaying the match. I don't see purpose in doing so. I want it to end fast, so we could start next one. Any of roles I played (minus invader - I don't invade) actually do not promote delaying, by my opinion. While generally I prefer to just shoot stuff, be that mobs or blockers and leave motes collecting to others, at times I still happen to be leader in this department. Don't know how, don't ask me. :) But I digress. Primeval phase spawns what, 3 wizards with 6 escorts? Ordinary Gambit spawns like 20-30 mobs per area. If I'm interested in shooting more stuff, it is my best interest to finish this ASAP so we could move onto next game, where I can shoot even more stuff. Because from my perspective it is more interesting to shoot 20 mobs than 3 groups of 3 and then one bullet sponge several times with occasional red figure with odd noises:). Sentry? Not sure how sentry role differs, maybe staying closer to bank and lending "long hand" fire support from there? But even then, blockers stop to appear when enemies called their primeval and there is no point to protect your bank when you summoned yours. Thus, let's finish this and move on. Even if collector can "benefit" in intentionally delayed match, sooner or later there will be nothing to haul, thus again, I see no reason to prolong on purpose. It's far better to haul either before the invasion, or right after, if enemy doesn't have next window of opportunity. Sadly, by my opinion, collector job is least appreciated, as most gamers just try to haul as much as they can. That's why I prefer not to pick up motes at all - fewer carriers mean more motes per carrier, thus bigger blockers. Invader probably is the only one who is honey badger here, because during regular match he has 4 chances at 25 motes banked increment, and then every time opposing team killed third envoy. Since I haven't seen anyone able to kill prime's primeval at less than 3 stacks, this means at least 4+3 invasions. Last but not least, I've seen enough comebacks to avoid them at all costs. If you can win - do this now, don't delay. Sadly, frequently people start to slack a lot, and then nasty surprise comes in. And I don't mean only Gambit and Destiny 2.

HAHAHAHAHAHHAHA Y’all complain that there’s no incentive to win in Gambit... but when there’s an incentive to win in crucible (Luna’s/NF) y’all non stop bitch about it on the forums. If gambit pinnacle weapons had a system where you actually had to win games to get, the salt would be too much for the forums to handle (and it’s been handling a lot of salt recently)

2 RepliesThose prime weapons don’t drop for shit. Or maybe my rng is ass.
-
With this thought process it doesn't suprise me at all why there are so many bad players at gambit. Why even play if you are just playing to lose intentionally or to be a liability? Its this way of thinking that forces others to lose confidence in solo players and stack up in the first place. If this is the thought process you wanna spread expect more stacks, more sweats, and alot more loses that whether you were helping or not you will still lose. The incentive is to be better than you are not loot that can't even drop because of corporate nonsense. They are fixing the issue they put in gambit but you shouldn't take it out on your team they didn't make the loot pool or loot percentages.
-
They’re adding gambit prime weapons to the win loot pool
-
I was playing prime last night and had two guys that finished a match with 0 kills and they would just stay at the spawn point on the Rig Map they got killed a few times but would move around and do nothing
-
It's literally the worst thing ever added to Destiny. Escalation Protocol is amazing and fun as hell. Blind Well is fun too. Gambit is the complete opposite.
-
It should award an additional synth. They also need to make the armor work in normal Gambit.
-
7 RepliesIf u get T3 synthesizer, you can pick up a bounty that guarantees a new gambit weapon. The bounty is 15 points. You get +3 for a win and -2 for a loss. You pretty much need a fireteam for this bounty though.
-
9 RepliesGambit prime is such a freakin joke, between the lack of rewards, the players doing nothing while fighting with each other over who gets to invade, teammates shoving you out of the way to take the heavy and the CONSTANT invading. Gambit prime is about as much fun as getting a colonoscopy with a fire hose!!!
-
6 RepliesImagine needing to incentivize victory. The next generation of gamers truly is cursed lmao.
-
Only another 2 months of Gambit Prime as a "new activity", until the next content drop...
-
Worst thing they've ever introduced into either game.
-
1 ReplyJust triumphs wise. I’ve got the curated smg and shotgun but not much else
-
I’m paraphrasing the movie “War Games”, here: The only successful strategy in Gambit Prime is not to play. “How about a nice game of chess?”
-
6 RepliesI don’t have incentive to play GP or Reckoning in general. Most of the rewards lead to armor and weapons that play best in Gambit, a game mode I’m not incentivized to play.
-
5 RepliesI stopped playing gambit prime because there is no incentive to win. And because I dont play gambit prime there is no incentive to play the reckoning.
-
It's pathetic and I love Gambit but prime... Another worthless dlc from bungo
-
The bounties trump any real reason to win. They are often seen as "more important than a win". Oftentimes, they are counterproductive to your team winning.
-
Bungie is really good at creating goals that go against working as a team. You're better off letting the bank drain for 50 motes. If you just kill stuff and ignore everything else you're a great reaper. Sentry, kill wizards and ignore primeval damage (and even go die to the invader for health respawn) for more wizards. Invader, well just stand by the portal and invade without doing anything else.
-
3 RepliesI’ll do you one better: no incentive to PLAY gambit prime. Hell, I’ll do you two better. No incentive to currently play Destiny 2.
-
4 RepliesI remember when the incentive of playing games was to have fun. Good times.
