It's a difficult balancing act. When Destiny 2 first released, we received a lot of feedback that things were to easy to earn. Without random rolls, there was no reason to replay activities to re-earn rewards. Without RNG, things were missing the spark of Destiny 1. An example we'd see was players replaying Vault of Glass numerous times for the Mythoclast. That said, we're doing some tuning on RNG. Reckoning will have better chances, and bad luck protection, for weapon drops. We're making sure the Nightfall rotation brings back activities more frequently for the unique weapons/rewards, and ada-1 bounties offer bounties for every weapon so you can grind out your desired roll. We've also introduced Pinnacle Weapons - players have given a lot of great feedback on how they enjoy the straight path to a reward, but we've also gotten poor feedback that the path is sometimes too easy or too hard. All in all, Destiny 2 will continue to evolve. Whether it be tuning RNG, Sandbox, Crucible - the experience will continue to change. Cheers to all who are coming along for the ride.

  • Say they were to add a Vex DLC to the game, adding new content along with the Vault of Glass, would you object to that? Perhaps even adding new encounters to the raid.

As feedback to the current state of acquiring special weapons and quests, I would like to provide the following comments: I really like the recent round of quests that require a specific triumph to complete. The triumphs are account-wide, so progress can be made when running any guardian, not just the one holding the quest. Also, the recent triumphs for weapons are very straight forward - do this many (lots) of strikes and unlock the ability to get the Service Revolver for example. Or completing "The Best Offense" triumph for the Oxygen SR3. Also the ability to choose the weapons we want to grind out for Black Armory rewards. There is no RNG in these activities, just grinding. We do "X" amount of work and get "Y" for our efforts. More rewarding activities like these would be appreciated (i.e. LESS RNG).

  • You know what if enhancement cores weren't in infusion at this point I'd be perfectly happy with D2. The cores just constantly push me away.

  • Infusion cores are one of the main reasons I'm not gonna return either.

  • Thanks for the reply. I wasn't really expecting my post to blow up on the forum otherwise I probably would have written it a little more tactfully. So I apologise for the language that I used. That being said, I'm burned out and tired of not being rewarded for my time in the game. I probably spend close to 6-7 hours a day on average playing it. I play destiny 2 because destiny 1 was such a great game. And great probably doesn't do it justice, it's one of the best games I've ever played. Probably because the raids are so much fun and still remain a challenge to this day. Do what you like with the rng but if I had to request one thing it would be remove exotics out of other people's loot pools in the raids once they've got it once. I ran a Scourge last night where Anarchy dropped for three of my fireteam members. Each of them had already gotten the weapon three times. Me and another guy who'd completed the raid 60+ times, who didn't already have it, didn't get it. 'Oh hey, that's my fourth Anarchy in 15 runs...' Needless to say we were both pretty frustrated and annoyed. I grinded Vault of Glass and Wrath of the Machine 32 times and 101 times respectively to get the rare drops I wanted (Vex Mythoclast and the Nanophoenix) and the loot is removed from your loot pool once you've got it. I can't see why Destiny 2 doesn't have the same loot system in place as the original game. Please remove the duplicate drops more than anything else, that's all I ask.

  • Appreciate that you guys are sticking with changing the game, no matter how much the community dislikes/likes something. I think for raid exotics, quests like Touch of Malice and outbreak prime are your safest and best bet. RnG may be worshipped/preferred by a lotta D1 players, but I think as the raids continue to evolve this RnG thing doesn’t stick with us as well.

  • The problem isn’t the drop rates of individual items. If the paucity of desirable items in the loot pool....and the fact that multiple triumphs hinge on getting lucky enough to get one (or more) if these low drop rate items to fall.

  • Yes, but what's the difference now between the Mythoclast vs the 1000 Voices grind? Raids are becoming too complicated for my liking, and there isn't any real way to get used to them without diving into the deep end and struggling to keep afloat. I have not seen the Story behind the Last Wish Raid at all nor Scourge of the Past Raids are the Pinnicle PvE endgame activity, I understand that but everything is just too mashed together and thrown out into the wind. There should be difficulty settings that have different rewards: A Story matchmaking tutorial mode rewarding blues. Normal mode rewarding normal stuff with a chance for Curated rolls and Raid Exotic. Prestige mode with a higher chance for Curated rolls and Raid Exotic and Armor Ornaments. Any Flawless run of Normal or Prestige should reward the Raid exotic guaranteed.

  • Strange. I have not seen this positive feedback you talk about. Maybe my fault and happy to be corrected. You guys have failed to balance anything. Randon rolls are there but pvp is just same meta or lunas and nf crap. Pinnacle exotic quest weapons are a joke. Apart from a few, most of these are gathering dust in vault as usual. Any weapon which is used effectively is nerfed to poop (sleeer, ep shotty, grenade launcher etc.) You got d1 right by the end and then you just blew it to shitland. I don't blame the players or community because their complains or whinging was not forced on you. I can play d1 raids and have fun anytime even now but there is no incentive for d2 end game crap. You lost!

Youtube and Reddit have bigger audiences, so what we see on these forums are really salty peeps. Myself included sometimes haha.

  • Reddit is mixed. I have seen salty piat peaking some times but mostly pisitive. I suspect it's because of moderation rather than expression if frustration which is fair for that forum. YouTube is fan base and nit critical or negative by design. Aka a streamer won't say that this game sucks do drive away his/her audience. That will be illogical IMHO

  • In regards to Strikes... Can we have a list to choose from? The invitation to the 9 seems to involve running certain strikes. But, Ive had to run the strikes from the planet, which is just not enjoyable. The nightfall has a list, but why not let us choose from ALL the strikes? Both the heroic and nightfall lists should be comprehensive.

The problem many other people have had is that every season since forsaken, I have been forced to play content that I don't want to play *cough crucible cough*, only to receive a piece of gear that doesn't increase my arbitrary light level. I've just reached 700 light on one of my characters, and it was a complete and total pain. I just want to play the content that I paid for, but i'm stuck with inferior weapons/armor. I could infuse, but that would be a waste of resources. You either need to reform the leveling system or make it more streamlined to let players progress how they want. You don't need to make content easier, just the road to let players access it.

  • I will never know how difficult that balancing act is because I don’t work in this industry but as a frequent Destiny player I can tell you it is very enjoyable to get a reward you have been struggling to get. On the flip side right now- we are grinding for MANY items in the game for far too long. If you want to make the game super grindy I suggest applying that to a few major items, like how gjallerhorn was in year 1. Don’t make every single thing in the game including legendary armor/ weapons and cosmetics an insane 6 month to a year grind. It just gets to the point where you lose faith on getting rewarded for your accomplishments.

  • Ding. Winner. The loot items in D1 were game-changingly powerful. So people felt they were worth the work to get. Nothing in the game is that powerful. No Ghorns. No Fatebringers. Whisper of the Worm was a RAID LEGENDARY in D1. This game is still haunted by the ghost of having been built for pvp balance.

Is that the right amount of players along for the ride? Most players don’t say that making a AAA title that aspires to become the one game people play as their hobby is easy. The problem is that the reaction to feedback given in year one caused a massive overcorrection in year two. The game isn’t a hobby anymore it’s a full time job with mandatory overtime that pays you in lottery tickets. The changes announced in the TWAB last week and you repeat here are positive changes for players. We like it, but it’s not a very solid pushback for the feedback the OP is giving.
