It's a difficult balancing act. When Destiny 2 first released, we received a lot of feedback that things were to easy to earn. Without random rolls, there was no reason to replay activities to re-earn rewards. Without RNG, things were missing the spark of Destiny 1. An example we'd see was players replaying Vault of Glass numerous times for the Mythoclast. That said, we're doing some tuning on RNG. Reckoning will have better chances, and bad luck protection, for weapon drops. We're making sure the Nightfall rotation brings back activities more frequently for the unique weapons/rewards, and ada-1 bounties offer bounties for every weapon so you can grind out your desired roll. We've also introduced Pinnacle Weapons - players have given a lot of great feedback on how they enjoy the straight path to a reward, but we've also gotten poor feedback that the path is sometimes too easy or too hard. All in all, Destiny 2 will continue to evolve. Whether it be tuning RNG, Sandbox, Crucible - the experience will continue to change. Cheers to all who are coming along for the ride.

  • Speaking on the replayability, why haven't the leviathan raid lairs been updated with powerful gear? Its like The Taken King all over again(except for the dumb ass decision to remove elemental primaries back then).

  • With all due respect, while incentives in form of loot are important, gameplay is what most important. No matter how prized loot is, if gameplay or some elements of it sucks, there is no point to play the game, which is essentially a combination of procrastination and entertainment. Not having fun while participating in entertainment is capital offence. As for Y1 loot having only static roll, well, here is a recap from someone who is now top 10% by time played. Yes, I know, just 10%, but that's 600+ hours. So I've seen something. Frontier Justice - scout rifle Bashee supposed to give. I lost count how many times I burned thousands of gunsmithing materials at him (I don't think there is a tracker), yet he doesn't gave me one. A lot of Crooked Fangs and Arsenic Bites (I love that bow, but not 7 in a row). About 1000 legendary shards to buy out Rahool's engram to get The Old Fashioned. During all my time in this game I got only 2 Halfdans. How can I farm it, if I only got two for 600+ hours? For 4 resets in Gambit (original, not Prime) and myriad of bounties, I got only seven Hazard of the Cast, which is "easy to get" according to some journalist's article. Despite having enough Gambit armour to equip two hockey teams, perks on vast majority of pieces are odd if not useless. I prefer uniform perks, that support one category of weapons. Sadly, there are very few of them. Moreover, for all those armour pieces I got, my titan got only reserves/scavenger for hand cannon. Never a loader, unflinching, or dexterity. I had to read light.gg to check whether they can roll with them at all. For all those tokens given to commyander Vuvuzela, I never got Vanguard SMG. I had no idea it even exists, until Ikora gave me one! He keeps giving me sniper rifles, shotguns, grenade launchers and helmets. Now for all 3 characters. Though my warlock seems to be blessed with sidearms as well. This season only - 700+ tokens, 4 Service revolvers (mediocre at best), and hunter (who dumped most of tokens) still doesn't have his Vanguard pants. 45 Go Figures, about the same number of Right Side of Wrongs. Zero with Drop mag/Outlaw+Rampage/Kill Clip. It is either or, but not both. For all that time since I got access to Dreaming city and doing regular bounties that reward with gear, but I got only a couple of Waking Vigils. But plenty of rocket launchers. I understand this game has "random" loot drop, but could you at least give us 1 basic item of each, before bombarding us with dupes? Especially in a row? Seeing two nearly identical rewards is funny for the first time, but seeing it again and again is quite irritating, if not frustrating. When loot game gives you is ridiculously unsupportive of other gear that you have (Actium War rig that I got doesn't have any auto rifles perks at all) it is only adds insult to injury. You're afraid I'll quit playing after I'll get gun or armour I've been trying to farm for so long? Why on Earth would I do that? I've been farming it exactly to use it, not to put it into vault. Random is fine, but it would be great to have some form of control over it. Like forges, where we could at least select particular model of a reward we chase. Even if at my 90 Blast Furnaces, I still don't have a roll I want. You could solve this by allowing us to select which stat to masterwork, alas, you don't. As of now, I've been using some Y1 guns (not Midnight Coup, no, no one raids with me:D), as they are better than your Y2 random rolls. Yes, they lack perks, but at least their stats are fine. And Y2 loot I have lacks both stats and needed perks. Please, use Banshee to allow us to customize our guns (or we are not as epic as Cayde to deserve right to customize our weapons?) and allow us to create slightly different variations of Black Armoury weapons, such as altering kinetic/energy and archetypes (rate of fire, basically). I love 150 revolvers, but it is either Y1 energy guns (three of them, one of which is blue), elusive Waking vigil, white&green stuff (not epoxy putty), raid gun, or Gambit Prime's weapon that, given my luck with Hazard, may be even more elusive. So... Make you RNG great again, pretty please?

  • A perfect example of how you community managers only react to the loudest assholes. Maybe if I want to be heard I need to tell you to go -blam!- your own stupid -blam!-ing -blam!-hole. Every post I make I’ll be sure to get real -blam!-ing nasty just so you read and respond. Lesson learned you -blam!-ing dumb piece of shit. Get -blam!-ed. P.s. can you kindly add more weapons and armor to your game, bring strikes back, stop nerfing things into the ground, and give us another whisper-style mission? That would be cool. Thanks.

  • This game seriously needs a total loot refresh, all vendors and drops. Why are planetary vendors still selling vinilla armor? How many Better Devils or that horrible armor do we need. Update the loot and this issue fixes its self.

  • This is absolutely true. The worst part is that it's many of the same people. Turns out that they just want to bitch no matter what.

  • RNG protection needs to be a enabled across the board for all activities. Raids, NFs, IB, everything needs to have some sort of protection so that when you grind for something there's a guaranteed light at the end of the tunnel. It doesn't have to be so that you get it right away, but also you shouldn't have to do a raid 100+ times without seeing the raid exotic. It's silly that this isn't a thing yet.

  • I actually agree with this. What’s happening is you have everyone that wants something, however they don’t want to grind for it. Then you have the other people that get it easily and then get bored or irritated because it was too easy. Lol it’s going to be hard to find that middle ground. There are some people who have run activities 50 plus times only to see their buddy get it and sometimes more than once. Needs to be a way to get increased chances the more you run the activity.

  • This is what you don't understand Bungie. The BALANCE between having no grind and having too much grind. You should have learned that from D1. Of course we want to grind, we don't want all the free stuff given to us. But doing 80+ AC challenge to get a ghost is simply inhuman. Let the people grind but implement protection beyond a certain threshold... Why do you need to always take extreme decisions, think about GOOD design.

  • Why do the Developers think that I should only be able to play the Reckoning if I'm willing to give my time to Gambit Prime first? Why can't I just go in and play something for fun?

  • "Give my time" it takes about 10 minutes. Do yourself a favor and stay far, FAR away from any MMO or real game. If you can't handle destiny, maybe stick to COD.

  • Oh gosh yeah. Casuals with no idea what a good game looks like will always flock to COD, then come on the Bungie forums and complain about how it's not a godawful surface level experience designed for the lowest common denominator.

It’s been said many times before on these boards that Bungie went from one extreme to another when addressing the issues with Vanilla Destiny 2. Overall, I was happy with progression in Vanilla Destiny 2, especially once the god awful mod system was removed. I realize a lot of hardcore players hated it, they wanted a return to the Glory days of Destiny 1 were being max Light/power meant something. I’d argue that the addition of titles has also solved this problem. Progression no longer has to be painful grind for those of us with limited spare time, and the hardcore still have something external to show off that’s not easy to achieve. The addition of random rolls fixed the issue with having things to chase. Exotics might have been a bit too easy to come by, but the last time I played, the drop rates were too stingy. A correction to Exotic drop rates is needed. Strikes ( not Nightfalls ) are unrewarding, and as such pointless. Please bring back Strike specific loot. Strike scoring should also return. There are too many activities in this game that don’t reward time or effort, quite simply, there is no carrot to chase after. All the vendors in the game are in dire need of a refresh. You also need to go back to the way things worked in Destiny 1, where when you level up a specific vendor, you are given a choice between a piece of armor, or a weapon. And for the love of god, Remove Enhancement Cores from Infusion.

  • Regardless of if they are hard to get or not more than the majority of the community hates them. Some people would argue with you on them being easy to obtain. I don’t really care because I end up being okay, however there are times where I get spread pretty thin.

  • Nah, no thanks. Not running a hamster wheel chasing cores. I assume you're the type that thinks just because it works for you, it should work the same for everyone else. Obviously that's not the case, when 60-70% of core sources are RNG. Same reason they're buffing drop rates for gear. Some folks have terrible RNG. But I'm glad it works for you. All the best.

  • Nope. If you actually play the game with ANY degree of efficacy, you get legendaries all the time. Some of those will dismantle into cores.
