Removing PvP just makes sense,
Like it or not. Since its inception, the forums have been flooded with whiny CRUCIBABIES. "I got killed by _____, bungo pls nerf", and the PvP favorite "_______ super is OP, bungo pls nerf." Countless amazing weapons and subclasses have been bastardized at the hands of CRUCIBABIES.
In a game where PvP was added on as an afterthought, in which balancing is difficult and was widely rejected when D2 was built around it, its time to just drop it like a hot rock.
PVE would see the level of polish it deserves with more devs/resources committed, the nerfs would be drastically reduced, and i wouldn't be forced into the sweaty, PvP dumpster inferno just to complete some arbitrary quest steps.
GET RID OF PVP ALREADY.
Edit: To further exasperate my point, a few post below, there's another CRUCIBABIE crying about getting matchmade against 4 stacks. Its waaahhh waaahhh waaahhh all day, every day in here from PvP.
Edit 2: PvP has never "kept Destiny alive" or been the sole reason people played during content droughts. Never, in the history of Destiny, has the PvP player count ever exceeded the PVE player count. Not once.
I played around 1300hrs in D1 and barely touched PvP. Grinding casuals kept D1 alive, just like D2.
Edit 3: Let's not pretend like skill really matters in in Destiny PvP. Internet connection, team shotting, meta spamming, and stacked teams rule..

2 RepliesI am seriously thinking of dumping Destiny franchise as a whole and just focus on Borderlands 3. I do not mind that there is PvP in Destiny 2, but it must be completely optional. There should be no weapon or shader that has Crucible in its critical path. Emblems at most. That's it. Bungie, you have little time to fix your mistake before losing the majority of your player base and condemning Destiny to become a pvper-only game.

I think a lot will depend on the success of Borderlands 3. If this game releases to financial success and critical praise from the gaming community then a PvP-less Destiny is not an impossible thought nor a doomsday for the franchise.

4 RepliesThe amount of crucibabies or whatever you're calling them just shows how much people care about PvP though - they're passionate about it. I don't think PvP was added on as an afterthought either. It was always meant to be an integral part of the game, Bungie have been massive on arena style PvP for a long time.

5 RepliesYou do realize the latest nerfs have all been due to pve right? Besides many players like myself play both pve and pvp. So good by to the playerbase if D3 has no pvp. You can have fun running the same strike killing the same boss for the 100th to get gear that doesn’t matter anywhere since there is no pvp. People cheeses Riven with rat kings - pve is predictable and easy. I know true gamers like myself won’t touch D3 w/out pvp.

You seem to forget that there are nerfs that happen due to pve as well (looking at you gally) You also seem to be forgetting that there are buffs that happen because of pvp. Also, man of the pvp nerfs have little to no effect on pve(especially weapon nerfs) because typically the weapons that dominate pvp are not particularly amazing in pve and vice versa.

I find it highly amusing that the crucible players are saying they will leave if pvp is removed and it is what keeps the game running, but every post on here is a pvp player complaining about how bad crucible is in D2 and calling for nerfs on anything that kills them. The irony is fantastic lol. If you guys like it so much then stop bitching about it everyday on the forums and start enjoying it. The constant complaining shows Bungie that it is impossible to please all of you and to maintain a proper balance, and this may be why they are considering removing pvp.

2 RepliesI hate to say it, but PvE is the most laughably easy joke I have ever seen in a game. It takes absolutely no skill and is extremely repetitive to the point that I almost never play it unless there is a good PvP weapon lokced behind it.

To everyone saying PvP is toxic: How many raid groups have you joined where after you wipe once somebody leaves? How many times has somebody looked you up on destiny raidreport? How many times have you been excluded from a raid because you haven’t completed it? How many times have you been called shit because you wiped a raid or didn’t complete it? PvP is not the only toxic thing in this game. All you PvE players are just as toxic, and it is reckless, ignorant, and unfair to blame the PvP community.

I get it. Pvp isn't your thing. But ditching pvp will likely have a cost. Losing the pvp players means less $. That leads to cuts in development. All the time and resources you think will be redirected toward pve may be cut to make up for that pvp income. It's also dangerous to assume that when they get rid of pvp development that the developers will suddenly get better at designing pve. Destiny's pve isnt the best in the business. Neither is the pvp. It's a jack of all trades. Maybe, just maybe, things would turn out fine for you and you'll get the game you've been waiting for, but it's a gamble. A big one. And it won't be the game I want.

You know what it is with you Anti PvP people. You just do not want to have to play it if you do not want to. I understand that. You guys do not want to have to grind for any weapons or quest that incorporates PvP. You guys just want to have a choice to not play PvP at ALL and not be punished for it. I understand that feeling. However Destiny without PvP is going to flop like a sack of potatoes. Unless they can make some seriously in depth character progression along with some balls to the walls loot system and endgame activities, Destiny without PvP would not work.
