Let me correct it for you. Most of their past issues are from listening to their CASUAL community, not their hardcore and competitive community, you know, the ones that grind their ass for things, understanding the mechanics/currency use and trying to be better at this game.

You can't ignore any part of the community, the casual elements buy the game and the pass, the hardcore buy the game and the pass. No difference from a cash perspective. So who do you lean towards? The hardcore are more demanding for expensive content renewal. The casual want gratification. But neither community is adding additional significant cash injections for their demands. The casual player is easiest to fix, just up the rate at which types of loot drop, cheap and easy. However, there may be longer term implications by upsetting the hardcore fan base, future sales, digital media share etc. Monetisation has been the issue for them, they haven't come up with a model like Fortnite did that allows them to make lots of microtransactions. But, they can't have it both ways, you can't charge premium price and expect the players to spend cash like they do on free to play microtransactions.
