You crowd in a Coliseum, waiting with baited breath. You have heard whispers, rumors, of some grand event to take place in this abandoned Coliseum. All around you are voices overlapping with each other, chattering excitedly. You glance to your left toward the stairs leading back down to the entrances and see a xombie offering soda and popcorn to the people in the stands. To your right, a sheriff displays his quick draw with a pistol and a pen for the amusement of the crowd around him. A grumpy man sits next to the sheriff holding his can of Pringles close, as if someone would steal them. Above you, you hear a dragon’s resounding roar reverberating through your bones. Across the stadium, it’s difficult to miss a giant mech piloted by a kitchen appliance trying its hardest to find a spot to sit. Instantly, the stadium hushes as a platform rises out of the middle of the floor of the Coliseum. The silence is deafening. A man in a white cloak stands upon the platform. Two katanas are strapped to his back, seeming to glint with giddiness in the light of the afternoon sun. He stands for a moment, glancing around the Coliseum, seeming to smile to himself as he recognizes familiar faces. He lifts his hands to his fur hood, and as he draws it back, he shouts to the crowd: “Welcome, ladies and gentlemen, xombies and appliances, AIs and witch-queens, robots and ninjas, political posters and religious posters, lurkers and veterans, my dear friends and virtual family, to the Third Season of the Outer Animal Fighting League! New legends will be forged! Old veterans will retain their fame! GLORY AWAITS ALL WITHIN THE OAFL!” -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Outer Animal Fighting League, or the OAFL, is a league of fighters who battle each other in pre-set arenas. Whether for fun, fame, or fortune, contenders come from near and far to participate. This time around will be a little different from the first two seasons of OAFL, so [b]veterans will want to read this part, as well[/b]. Remember, this is fun and games. No hard feelings. I know everyone knows that, I’m just making sure. If you want to participate, you’ll still need to receive an Outer Animal [u][url=https://www.bungie.net/en/Forums/Post/251577612]at this post[/url][/u]. This thread is different from RunnerGunner’s original Outer Animal post, so that would be why I’m not responding to your request for an Outer Animal if you post on the original post. Once you have an Outer Animal, create your loadout for your fighter [u][url=https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/251577739/0/0]at this post[/url][/u]. Here are the rules for loadouts (Note: I might change them over time as new issues arise): 1. NO FIREARMS! Projectiles like arrows are probably fine, but in honor of the original rule set by RunnerGunner himself, I will be banning all firearms. 2. Only 1 gimmick/ability per person. This means that no matter how much you want elemental abilities AND be able to summon a Death Star to your aid, you can only pick one. For example, my old character had invisibility and armor that blinded my foes. In this season, I would only be able to pick one. 3. Vehicles and mounts will count as a gimmick/ability. This includes mechs, tanks, spaceships, etc. Though I would recommend against having full-on drivable vehicles like tanks and spaceships since combat arenas are designed with man-to-man combat in mind. But if you wanted a mount such as a horse or a giant dog to ride, that’s fine and dandy, but that would have to count as your ability. (Vehicles and mounts will count as passive abilities) 4. I’m only allowing a few uses of any active Unique Abilities per battle. These are basically akin to Supers in Density, so make it count! If you have a loadout you want to use, but aren’t sure it’s legal, go ahead and post it and I’ll work with you on it. I’ll entertain any idea, I just want fights to be fair and not completely one-sided. However, exceptions to rules will be rare (because if they were common, what would be the point of trying to keep things fair?). Veterans, if you want to port over your old loadouts, use [u][url=https://www.bungie.net/en/Forums/Post/244129986?sort=0&page=0]this link[/url][/u] to find your old loadout and post it in the loadout post. Edits are allowed, but once your match starts, your loadout is locked until the completion of the match. [b]Only after receiving an Outer Animal and posting a loadout can you request a fight on this post[/b]. You can challenge any user, though both combatants will need a loadout. You can also request to just be put in a battle, in which case I will match you against another random fighter. Also, you may request an arena for your fight if you wish (arenas are listed down below). Once a fight is confirmed, I or another co-author will PM both combatants and let them fight it out. [b]These fights must honor the gentleman’s agreement[/b] - and the author assigned to the fight acting as referee will call the fight if they deem that any dirty tactics are being used or when they think that one fighter has taken too much damage to carry on. If you fought in the Civil War a few weeks ago, or if you’ve challenged a poll in Toaster’s Arena, these fights will work similarly. However, they will not be like most fights you have fought in. Depending on the arena you are battling in (see arenas post for information on some more unique Events), length of the match, attributes that you have focused on (see loadout post for information on attributes), and other factors, different events will pop up during matches. For example, if a match persisted for quite a long time and neither fighter has Endurance as a focused attribute, I would intervene and have players fail at attempting more demanding tasks such as running up walls, stumble when hit with an ability, etc. These interventions are referred to as [b]Events[/b]. Until school lets out for me (which happens to be Porch Day - what a happy coincidence!), I can’t promise more than one OAFL-related post a week, usually on weekends. These things take time to put together. If I do manage to get one out before the weekend, that would be awesome. However, that means that I may not be able to get one out by that weekend. Also, I have to wait for the fights to conclude in PM before I can be sure that I have a complete post. So if you want fights to come out, get the people currently on the pending fights list to finish up. And be patient - I may have a couple of co-authors, but we can only do so much.
