So I just recently returned to destiny 2 after only playing through the red war back in fall 2018. I’ve really enjoyed playing through Osiris, Warmind and Forsaken. The more I play the more I realize all the content I’ve missed out on that players no longer have access to, including quests, story, weapons and armor. I understand the need to constantly be pushing new content but I don’t understand the justification of locking players out of old content. Speaking with fellow returning players, it’s largely felt that we are being “punished” for leaving whereas I would think you want players to feel rewarded for coming back. Other games I play constantly release new content and never lock away old quests or story. I really don’t see why that has to be the case. I would much rather see each new season of content being added onto the game instead of replacing the previous. Or at a minimum hold reoccurring events that include content from previous seasons. I had the exact problem with destiny 1 as a returning player, not having access to previous content but blatantly being showed the content I missed out on.
If I pay for the DLC and season passes I should have been able to have access to everything no matter when I play it.
Example: Yes I know that Thunderlord is still available in the game but I would have much rather enjoyed experiencing the quest and story of having to earn it instead of just buying it from Xur on the cheap or finding it randomly in an engram.
Edit: Everyone keeps asking me to let them know what else I’m missing, but I can’t because I wasn’t here for it to even know what I missed out on!
Im an airline pilot for my job. I miss out on a lot of timed events. But other games I play and come back to never remove old content, they only add to the current game.
Anthem is actually what brought me back to destiny. That game is so bad and it left me desiring a decent looter shooter. I love the world of destiny, the art, music and aesthetic it’s all amazing. I’m just suggesting that they not make it a cluster bomb for returning players that just feel lost in the crossfire.
Side note: I would have loved for the destiny games to just be called Destiny. And added with content and have destiny 2 basically be an add on-expansion. I would have loved to one day be fighting Crota and the next be fighting on the leviathan. To decide one day I’m going to go to the tower and the next to go to Iron lord social area.

6 RepliesJesus christ, you -blam!-ing crybabies will literally cry about anything

3 RepliesHow do you know about things you don't know about?

My ear is bleeding.

Edit: Everyone keeps asking me to let them know what else I’m missing, but I can’t because I wasn’t here for it to even know what I missed out on!
You missed a lot more than that. But to be honest, with the way Bungie structures this game, they do a pretty good job of making sure past stuff stays in the past. You really shouldn't feel like you have been cheated though because if you left after vanilla Destiny you most likely got all the DLCs combined for a lot cheaper price. Right now you can get CoO, WM, Forsaken and Annual Pass for half the price it would have cost to buy all that when it initially came out.

2 Replies"It left me desiring a decent looter shooter" honestly you should've bought either Borderlands 1 or 2 for that, this is not how looters shooters should be. Play the Borderlands series then you will experience the GOAT of looters shooter

3 RepliesI understand limited time events they’re fun and you get cool cosmetics and what not What I don’t understand is why everything in the entire season needs to be limited time events. I knew that the people who have been playing consistently every week for the past year and a half would have no issues with the current model and be the ones telling me to that wanting to experience things I missed is invalid, but in reality it should be irrelevant to you whether or not I get to play some mission. A game company should want players to return to their game especially after they’ve put so much into improving over the last several months without feeling behind or lost or that they missed out. Offering a token that raises your level but locks you out of both of the new campaigns that you paid for is certainly not that answer (Yes I know you don’t have to use the token, i didn’t and was perfectly happy to level up the regular way).

2 RepliesKeep track of when these things happen? If you're interested play and work through the quest. I played for the halloween event for horror story and later after that did the quest for thunderlord. All while I was mostly playing overwatch or whatever the ps plus free game was that month.

7 RepliesWait, people get locked out of older quests? Serious question to all, like what? It seems my gf who started a few weeks ago can still do quests for Mida, Rat King, Sturm, etc. What is OP speaking of? Is she locked out of Thunderlord quest? I actually forget how that one one began, to be honest...

Your choice to move on from d2 and play hot garbage like anthem. Are you saying timed events should be out on hold until you decide to come back? Entitled springs to mind...
-
Umm, fall 2018 was forsaken, not vanilla destiny 2

5 RepliesOne thing I tell people when I talk about this game is that "its a living breathing game, and I love that about it" thats literally one of the very best parts. If they can do it without taking that away then im all for it. But if it takes away from thag aspect of it, that kind of sucks. One thing I noticed while running through forsaken with people that had missed out ia that sometimes petra wasnt in the tangled shore when she should have been for them. I can see that sort of thing causing problems

You should be punished. Loyalty is rewarded and treachery is punished lol.

So, simple solution is...never return to Desiny game. Because you miss all little drops of Dreaming City, but all of them like end credits scenes. So if you'll miss some, you could see it on youtube. And even more, they became more useless then mem Captain America scene, where you get nothing after all.=)

Example: Yes I know that Thunderlord is still available in the game but I would have much rather enjoyed experiencing the quest and story of having to earn it instead of just buying it from Xur on the cheap or finding it randomly in an engram.
Just don't buy from Xur and delete the Thunderlord, if you find it in an engram. 😉

5 RepliesNo. No, you can not have Horror Story. Limited TIME events are called that for a reason. All quest items should be time gated.
-
2 RepliesAll of the old content is still available, this post is confusing. You can’t get old eververse items but all of the actual armor sets and weapons are waiting to be collected.
-
Season content are free content to all players. Limited-time events are one of the core points of the live-service model.
-
Bungie are just plain incompetent at this point you may be better off directing your feedback towards someone like Unknown-player or Datto or the likes. Maybe just slip in a D2 feedback request amongst the video replies for example ;)

22 RepliesEdited by Haunter: 3/28/2019 7:44:23 AMNo. You miss out by not playing that's on you, you aren't entitled to unlocking everything your first run back through, I wish there wouldn't have been 640 bounties either, returning players should honestly have the same grind we did

Good Idea

Bump! This is good feedback.

1 ReplyFortnite is similar to that. Once the season is over, it's over. People, like me, who don't play often before time expired will be missing out a lot. I did missed out a lot of characters I wanted to get and I had to suck it up and just keep playing as much as I could. But I still love Fortnite. Destiny 2 is the same for me. I missed out some here and there but it's all good. I have a feeling that it might come back at some point in the future.
-
What story are you missing. I’m confused.
-
2 RepliesThe only things not available are eververse armor sets and holiday event stuff. Most of the armor is useless. Obviously if it's a holiday event item, it shouldn't be available outside of said event.
-
Edited by Ogma: Destroyer of Worlds: 3/27/2019 8:55:41 PMBungie really doesn’t seem to like players having options or much control over their experience with the game. I completely agree with you, but it’s likely falling on deaf ears unfortunately.

Thunderlord quest should've been made available permanently after the event, makes no sense to take it out (yes i'm aware it was added with FOTL but it was left available until Black Armory came out) That quest and the story content behind it should also be made available as a heroic story mission.
