While I love the idea of this debuff & how it empathizes what Lord Saladin stands for when he talks about Guardians and their Light as power, I dont think this was thought out very well in terms of its execution. I think we needed to see a really good reward to entice more people to use this debuff. Using a Year 1 weapon as an Reward no one really cared to look at isnt a good choice.
My solution I offer : Iron Banner Pinnacle weapon - Felwinters Lie.
It be better to lure people to use the Burden if they knew it was exactly as it was. Honestly The Iron Burden opens up a slew of ideas for me personally and what I think Bungie could do to make The Iron Banner an event people will look forward to.
Put the Days of Iron gear set inside the Iron Banner and have us craft the Ornaments in battle when we are awarded new Iron Banner medals, the chances of one of the Ornament Tokens dropping is increased depending on your Power Level handicap.
Also have it so The Iron Burden handicap be adjusted by the player to increase what that chance is of it dropping ranging from -10 power to 100. Have these then be requirements to work towards Earning Felwinters lie, so win so many Iron Banner games with the full Armour set & Ornaments & have the max debuff of Iron Burden in effect to progress the Quest.

So then what would people want for a Pinnacle Weapon as a reward in the Iron Banner? I put Felwinters out there because its the most infamous weapon! Gjallarhorn? Young Wolfs Howl?
-
Should be an exotic quest for a buffed Young Wolf's Howl.

1 Replyactually the opposite was fun for me, I got one of those power increases to drop on my well of light runs, I was going to play anyway, but it was fun to be OP for 2 games (which is really about the max you can play in a 1/2 hour).

iron burden is a great idea but the reward is not worth it

Shotguns just got a range nerf. I don't think adding another shotgun is in their plans.

2 RepliesI played a couple hrs last night and hit 98 kills. I’m not a streamer or YouTuber so I’d say the quest is about right. If I do this till reset I will have finished it Saturday with only a couple hrs per day played. I really don’t think that’s too much to ask of people. I will say hardly anyone I played ,when I thought to check, was running the debuff. My advice is to forget KD and just get the kills. I’m actually really enjoying Iron banner for the first time in a while.

2 RepliesNo just no, no more one shot weapons, this is getting ridiculous already. While I agree the weapon should be worth the chase but there's already too many shotguns and fusions running rampant one shorting everything.

2 Repliesno Felwinter, no just no, I refuse to go back to that hell hole of a meta

1 ReplySo your replacement for the quest to get an iron banner is a quest to get a different Iron banner weapon?

I played a few IB matches, and then had 2 bounties left so figured The Iron Burden debuff would help me since it stated attacks against higher power blah blah. But I felt like I struggled 10x more trying to finish them on the debuff, than I did at my actual power level. The issue with The Iron Burden debuff, is that a lot of the player base isn't going to go into Iron Banner using it. Atm, I'm 700 power level, so if I used it..I'm 600..now the chances coming across a player under 600 is gonna be rare. And I ran the debuff once and only managed to kill 17 people within the time frame it allots you. Now, to some people, that may seem like a good amount. But I just don't find the payout worth it when people are using weapons atm in Crucible that can kill you in a second or two. You stand no chance against snipers, most HC's, a shot gun, or even a pulse rifle. Yes..it sounds like I'm moaning, which isn't the case. Oh..and I forgot...the Jotunn..there's no way to counter that gun at 600 power level when people are near max power level or at max. Yes. I realize this debuff was put into place as a challenge, and a way to rely more on skill than power level advantage. I feel that in the end, your kills are gonna be based more on luck/RNG over actual skill.

2 RepliesCorrect. Apparently I missed the memo my team was dumb enough to use it in my first match. Still managed to go positive, but we got trounced. Damage difference between 600 and 700 is a lot. It’d be fine if people who were lower were actually playing Crucible so the difference would be 30-80 or so, which would be manageable. But when it’s only 700 people playing and the buffs are sporadically used by people (because what’s the point?), it’s quite punishing TO use.

Exactly the last fucking thing we need in this meta is felwinters

9 RepliesWhat is the reward for doing the iron burden pursuit anyway
-
Sorry, but the debuff is bullshit and made for no-lifers and streamers. At least the 500 kills for it. Also, it needs to stay active for a day, not for a few minutes...
-
It needs more time is all I'm saying. Been pretty happy with how well I'm doing, and I'm lost how people still complain about light level advantage.

1 ReplyFelwinters with rifled barrel rangefinder and shot package! Yes! I’d add make the debuff stack on time or something, it only lasts 30min.
