I've played against this guy many times during the course of 3 days. He's your typical sweat-tryhard-fourteen-year-old. Plays with this beloved Not Forgotten, Dust Rock Blues, and Hammerhead. All with whom he has over 20,000 Crucible kills - separately.
The first ever game we matched, he killed me and started t-bagging me for no apparent reason. This didn't bother me the first time, but he started to literally only target me so he could t-bag me the most he could. It made me very annoyed because I didn't understand why he was t-bagging me. It wasn't really the t-bagging that annoyed me, it was the reason behind it. What am I doing that pisses you off? It happens quite often that random players I've never met starts t-bagging me, and only me, in Crucible matches. By saying "quite often" I mean, once or twice a week, or so.
I'm not at all sure if this is how everyone experiences it, but from a personal perspective, it feels as though it's something I am doing that triggers people to t-bag, and not them being jerks (at least most of the time, I assume)
So what is it that I might be doing? Is it my name? Is that offensive in any way to anybody? Is it my emblem? Do they maybe think I'm trying to "flex" by using a particular emblem? Is it my loadout? I'm not using a meta loadout, I'm constantly switching between rare, purple and exotic weapons, Y1-Y3. Every weapon that I have in my collections have been used multiple times in PvP matches, I love using stuff that no one else uses, so I can't get t-bagged for using weapons that nobody else uses, right? (Especially from a tryhard kid).
So anyway, what I did was I tried adding this dude the first game to ask him the reason for his t-bagging, but he never accepted my friend request. Another annoying thing is that I was always being matched against him, never with him (thx Bungie). So naturally, my first game against this guy certainly wasn't my last. Now don't get me wrong, he wasn't overly good or anything, but since I was just playing regularly and he was only going for me, naturally I'm bound to get killed by him way more than he is going to get killed by me.
I then went off to not play more that day. Figured this sweat would play a couple of hours, so I might as well take a break until the kid gets off, right.
So I did, and the next day I went back to Crucible. What do you know, the same guy, in literally every game I play, only against me, and of course (!) he is so determined to t-bag me that he remembers my name, and does it the first game of the day when he kills me. It's like he's tracking me or something lmao.
I joined his fireteam because it was open to joining at the moment. Got into his fireteam and asked him what his problem was because clearly, he has a problem with me. He didn't reply, finished the match and left the fireteam. He refuses to communicate and yet, he continues to harass me. This then happened a third day. That is today, which is why I'm writing this very, very long essay about how much it infuriates me, both Bungie's matchmaking system, and some peoples attitudes against people like me, who just try to have fun in the Crucible.
I have tried to block him multiple times during this course, but always get the same "Could not block player due to network error" (?)
What kind of error is that? I'm not sure it would help against matching him again, but again, why is that error a thing? If I want to block someone, let me block someone!
So, as the question lies - "What to do against an annoying opponent?"
What can I do against a player like this, to either make sure I don't get matched with him or make sure that he never can match with anyone again (if that's a valid option for this sort of situation)?
Yes, I'm well aware that I can just ignore his t-bags, but anyone who has been t-bagged a dozen times in every game for the course of three days (which I highly doubt anyone has, but you get the point), you know it's super annoying, and it really does affect the fun you have while playing the game.
Since this problem seems to be sticking, I'll just lay off with my destiny routine for a week or two. It's definitely sad that a problem like this can cause me, a huge destiny fan, to not want to play anymore.
If you've read all of this, thank you for taking your time, hopefully I wasn't being too butthurt, and you're welcome to try and answer my question the best way you can. If you have other opinions about the situation I'm currently in, you're very welcome to express them, but please; if they are going to be negative towards me in a disrespectful manner and not polite/mature, there's no point in adressing them. Thank you once again, and have fun Guardians!
