Blackout is a terrible modifier for Reckoning

I'll be honest. Why have modifiers at all? This is some of the worst, most frustrating content to date.

    • It's pretty much the only thing that makes the Reckoning hard. I mean, aside from getting boss ragdoll stomped off the bridge or getting 1 hit killed by the knights when your 90 feet above them, what honestly kills you in Reckoning? Just fake ass difficulty.

    • Worst modifier is The Stupid Teammates. Going with solar sidearms and void pulses when Arc Burn modified is on.

        • Read some comments... and had to wrap my head around how many of my fellow players are literal snowflakes. The Reckoning is supposed to be a TOP TIER activity related to another TOP TIER activity. The rewards associated with these activities (the armor) can be game changing... especially once you get up to Tier 3. It shouldn't be easy to get. Period. I know how game changing the T3 armor set is because I have a set (Reaper). As a T3 Reaper, I can literally generate special ammo (among other things) so much that my team can't use it all. To succeed at the Reckoning, all you need is some basic team coordination; and a realization that certain abilities (Well of Radiance, Tether, etc) make things a whole lot easier on your team. In fact, you really need to be thinking how best to help your team (if you can) rather than having a solo mentality. Some tips from my experience... - Stay with your team as much as you can so it is easier to handle groups. Even the best player is not going to last long with that many enemies. Plus, you can coordinate using your supers. Also, helps get revives faster. - Do not enter melee with enemies when Blackout is the modifier. It's that simple. But, still, accept that the thralls will attempt to gang on you. - Learn to laugh when a Minotaur, Knight, etc comes up and wipes your whole team. Can't count the number of times one of them punts my whole team off that bridge... take pride if you got punted the farthest! - Use weapons and/or abilities that are actually useful. Weapons like Trinity Ghoul and Telesto make short work of large groups. Also pay attention to the positive modifier and singe and abuse them if you can. - Load up on Raid Banners. You can place one near the bank at the start. No reason not to since it lets you start with full ammo and supers. Finally... if you can't handle the Reckoning... up your power, change your tactics... or maybe find a different game to play... cause the Reckoning really isn't that complex.

          • Honestly, it’s not the modifiers that kill it. It’s the need for Well of Radiance for Tier 2 at the Bridge of Folly. Try not having a warlock. Try it. Titan Bubble kinda works if you have Ward of Dawn but you constantly get pushed out because you can’t shoot out of it and the adds rush in. Also, there isn’t an exotic like Phoenix Protocol that allows you to get your super back quickly so you have to have a ton of orbs to get that back. The best thing Hunters have is Tether. Which doesn’t help against the constant snipers taking shots at you. I’ve posted a few times how I wish Bungie would do something to get rid of this need for certain classes above the others in PvE. They made Ward of Dawn a JOKE compared to D1 where it was nice to have as a shelter, to give blessing of light overshields, weapons of light to buff damage. Ya know, the kind of things that Well has now with various exotics. Why is it that having 2 Titans and 2 Hunters makes it near impossible to beat Tier 2 but if you trade in a Warlock it becomes a breeze? I’m not hating on Warlocks, I’m not advocating Titans return as the sought after class. I’m saying, why is there this NEED for certain classes. Why is Well basically required for the Tier 2 and other activities.

            • So my old comment got pretty popular because of all the bad players here. This is not a solo game. From the content drops that should be obvious. Play something else if you want to be solo. Don’t complain and get content made easier. Or get a team that you can coordinate with and actually run the content easily. I’m sorry you want to come on the forums and complain rather than helping yourself but yknow bad players will do what bad players do. Oh and ah get good.

            • All the modifiers are pure garbage. There is nothing interesting about any of them. There is also nothing about any of them that would force you to change your normal strategy. The true blueberries here are the ones that think otherwise.

              • 1. Blackout is obnoxious in any setting. Not just Reckoning. I've hated it in all of its forms (Lightswitch). 2. Modifiers----used intelligently----help keep content fresh by encouraging different play styles by making some thngs weaker and other things stronger. The problem is that---in Destiny 2----modifiers have largely been used to make the player weaker and to make content "more challenging". So the modifiers SEVERELY weaken the player (like Blackout and Glass)...while the things that make the player stronger are weak (Brawler, Grenadier)....or never made it into the game at all (Small Arms, Specialist, powerful elemental burns, etc....) But I really don't understand why Bungie keeps stubbornly trying to force Blackout and Glass on the player base. Every time they try to add it to content, people get so frustrated with the cheesy deaths that result from it that they just wind up taking it out. Because people just refuse to play content with those modifiers..... ....or worse, the modifiers make the content unplayable. (Exodus Crash strike boss fight)

                    • People just play it wrong. Even with the swords it is simple. Just move away as soon as they come close. Problem solved. But no. People rather decide to stay in the WoR even though the bosses insta kill them because they think the overshield and healing beats everything...

Terrible in general but their goal appears to be to challenge us to play with out letting a single enemy touch you up close... I admit I hate it but it has forced me to change how I approach the situation at times, which must be what they want. They don't want you to be able to run the same thing you always run, they want you to mix it up a bit. If they would buff primaries, especially scouts I'd have no problem playing the distance game of trying to keep enemies at a distance effectively. But Bungie has thus far dismissed that such weapons should deal enough damage to be viable in a timed game mode like reckoning. Bungie has thus far fostered the need to use heavy weapons as if they are primaries. I see this with the older gents I play with who constantly complain they could do better if they just had more heavy ammo... even though they are already using it like its their only primary weapon. It's to pull this crutch out from under my 'casual' friends because its honestly the only effective mean they have at contributing to dealing damage... besides shotguns... which brings up Bungie's obsession with bosses having stomp(AoE) mechanics and teleportation abilities. If everything revolves around close range to deal damage and enemies teleport directly on top of you OF COURSE EVERY CASUAL IS GOING TO FALL BACK ONTO SHOTGUNS and heavy weapons. Buffing primaries and ranged weapons will help in part... which might nullify our complaints about Blackout since we won't all be using close/mid range weapons at all times. Who in their right mind would ever use a massive zoom sniper right now in the game? It makes no sense to do so with the current enemy/weapon environment design

It's end game content. What do you expect, a strike that you can solo in 5 min. It's not even difficult. It was terrible in the beginning but not a big deal now after the nerf. Ran 4 tier 2 reckonings with randoms with no problems. Just look out for yellow bars.
